Read some helpful reviews of StorageMart at 2500 SE 14th Street, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

I don't know about all StorageMart locations. This review about the one located at 2500 SE 14th St in Des Moines IA. DO NOT USE THEM!!! I had a unit there for a couple of months up until today when I ended my connection with them. I have been robbed twice while renting from them. My first claim was denied because the manager Sarah, and her boss that she called, said I didn't need a police report because they would have security video checked. When I went yesterday to get my things out of storage so I could quit paying I found another $1150 worth of stuff missing along with boxes torn open that were taped shut, books thrown around empty box of office equipment. It was a mess. The boxes that were left there were wet on the bottom from rain that had gotten in that nobody ever checked. Nobody had ever let us, the people that rent from them, know that there was flooding. The building has a strong moldy smell to it now. The first time I was robbed over $800 in American Indian dolls were stolen from me that had been bubble wrapped and packed and placed on top of everything else so that they wouldn't break. After going to get all my things yesterday I found out more things were missing. I called the actual corporate office for them when I got home yesterday and spoke to a very nice lady who told me I should have made a police report the first time. I shouldn't have been told no not to. She also told me that the manager was the one who reviewed the tapes. I told her I believe that manager might be behind this. She said she would have someone from corporate review the tapes. The sketchy manager will probably make sure they're deleted. I'm a recovering meth addict. For the last 30 years I've been clean and sober. Trust me when I say I know a high person when I see one and that girl that works there is definitely on! So today I went back there. I called the police while I was there. I made a report. He added my first robbery to this robbery so I refiled the first claim along with filing a new claim for which I'm thankful. Very nice police officer. I got hard copies of both my claims and something showing I no longer rent from them. If my claims get denied again I'll be taking them to court. I'm going to try to post this without any stars because I'm not impressed in any way with this location, but if not I will put one star truly believe that I don't mean it. ... Read more

When my husband Lonnie and I went in to rent our unit, we were sure of what size we needed. After talking with Sarah for a few minutes and her asking just the right question we ended up getting a unit two sizes bigger. At first I was skeptical, thinking she was trying to up sale. When we moved in we couldn’t fit one more thing in our unit. We had just enough room. Had we done it our way, we’d have been in trouble. Thank you Sarah for your knowledge and expertise. It was truly a pleasure working with someone so kind and professional. Your help made all the difference ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at StorageMart - 2500 SE 14th Street include the following amenities: Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 400 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
