Just checked in to my storage unit and had the honor of doing so with Mary. She is a true steward of the Storage Mart and makes sure all tenants are fully taken care of- she walked me through all my check-in instructions. I so appreciate the personalized experience! ... Read more

Mary was very helpful in getting me started with renting a unit! She guided me and let me tour one of the units to see if it fit my needs and it really helped me decide on the size I need. Really friendly and easy to talk too! ... Read more

Public Service Announcement: Prospective Tenants Please Read!! Similar to other recent comments, I have been a loyal tenant with on-time rent payments at this location for 2 years and StorageMart has incorporated arbitrary/random rent increases several times WITHOUT notification throughout that time. Look at the previous comments. I called to understand why it happened and to request to return it to the existing rate, and was dismissed and told they have the “right” to unilaterally increase the rent anytime with 15 days notice (which I didn’t receive). I proposed that I implement a unilateral rent reduction and the property manager Mary scoffed at it and made me feel like a worthless customer. She might understand now how a tenant feels when it’s done to them. They send very prompt rent notices via email, but apparently send the rent increases via snail mail?Without a proper explanation as to why the rent increases are sent via snail mail when they have an intentionally robust email/digital rent collection process, it’s difficult to see it as anything other than shady/intentional/deliberate to mislead. They also pressure 5-star reviews from brand new tenants at sign up while they’re establishing rates to ensure a favorable review, I experienced this firsthand. This is against Googles policies. Take a look, everyone is happy at sign up, but not so when rent randomly goes up. I do understand accidents happen and am willing to give the benefit of the doubt, so unless remedied quickly, I can confidently state hey are upholding the stereotypically negative characteristics known in the mini-storage industry, no matter how the nice the building and digital façade is. I hope for the following outcomes: 1) StorageMart clarifies this as an innocent mistake toward a longstanding tenant. 2) If the poor treatment toward me isn’t a mistake, I hope to save other hardworking people the mistake of uses Ankeny StorageMarts. We are all looking to do business with fair and honest companies. MiniStorage is no different. StorageMart owners: Please prove me wrong! :) ... Read more

Raised my price 25% after 4 months. Women I spoke to over the phone refused to work with me on price and argued minutia with me like I was a toddler. Told her I would be vacating and received attitude. Day I was moving my belongings out, person working the desk was incredibly rude. She acted annoyed when I asked for a restroom key, and slammed the door in my face after she was done speaking to me. I would not take my stuff here or recommend anyone to go here. ... Read more

Absolutely, wonderful customer service. Mary, walked us through all options, showed us the different size units to fit our needs, and answered every question I had on pricing, accessibility, insurance, policies/rules and setting up easy pay options. We were in, and out within 20 minutes, with a temp controlled unit, that met our needs and price range. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at StorageMart - 2750 NW 36th Street include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, 24 hour access, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Truck Rentals, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 300 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
