Read some helpful reviews of Hawai-i Self Storage at 2909 Waialae Avenue, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

I don’t like to admit that I haven’t done many things like sign up for a storage unit, sign a lease or move into a new place on my own but here I am. TLDR at the end. Back story: Before moving all of my (and another’s) property out of a two bedroom with a garage into a single rented room on my own back in May 2023, I never signed a lease with it being solely my responsibility. Here I am November 2024, moved in and out of Hawai’i self storage, in and out of the single rented room and into a new two bedroom rental all on my own, with everything out of the storage unit. It started here, with Hawai’i self storage. The process: This was the first place I signed a lease on my own, from the start to finish the women who have helped me here were amazing. Kind, understanding and explained everything in a way that didn’t make me feel less. The units/ services: The units and building are clean and you can go in any time (they send emails if there’s something going on) with your key code that you set up when you sign on. There are almost always carts for you to use and they just brought in a bunch of new ones. Of all the times I’ve gone to the unit, I only had to wait for parking and a cart once and that was on the last day of the month for less than 5 mins. CLEAN. Everything is so clean. I never once saw a spider or anything. No garbage anywhere. Communication: I love that they send emails! Communication is on point. Security: This place is secure. You can’t get into the parking lot when they’re closed without your code. You can’t get to any other floor but your own without your code. You can’t get into any unit without your key. I really can’t even see a way to cut the locks that you have to use for your unit because of how they are shaped. Moving out: A BREEZE! Wow. Can’t even give these people enough stars. I called them up on a whim to ask when I had to move out or how much notice to give and they kindly let me know. To keep it short and I’d like you to just trust me without going into it, I can’t say enough for someone like me who is busy with work and does things last min. This was the most painless and sweet process again, their communication is on point. TLDR: Easy, secure, clean, accessible, 5 star customer service, communicative, professional care and a safe environment. 10/10 will 100% only ever rent a storage unit from them in the future and only ever recommend them. First and only for me. No notes! ... Read more

Please be aware of the bate and switch. We reserved for one price, when I called to get some questions answered, they said the price was $20 more. When my daughter went down to fill out the paperwork, they told her they didn't have that unit any longer and it would be ONLY an additional $20 more. Super bummed my college student now has to find a different location as I do not like this business practice and am not made of money ... Read more

So far so great! Very spacious unit for the price. I love that the facilities feel new, and is very clean. The staff seem to care about the level of service they provide each client. This is why I rate them tops. I appreciate this, I matter to them and they are fair with me and fellow customers. They maintain 24 hour service, I am able to access my unit, any time. I am welcome with a smile and greeting every time I have visited there, so far. Recently, there was a problem with my dog being in the car, I think the situation was handled by staff appropriately, and graciously. I hope my dog may eventually be known to all staff and customers as the awesome pooch that he is. lol. I like the local touch and welcoming smiles the best. Mahalo nui loa, HSS staff! P.S. Oh yes, and thanks for the complimentary cookies and coffee. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Hawai-i Self Storage - 2909 Waialae Avenue include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, 24 hour access, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 16 to 224 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Hawai-i Self Storage - 2909 Waialae Avenue start from $124 and can go up to $999 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
