Fantastic storage facility with an incredible manager. We used them to store some items for my college kid’s dorm room, and everything was impeccable. We arrived after hours one night and couldn’t remember the code, and the manager called us back immediately offering assistance. I am extremely impressed with this facility. Five stars all the way. ... Read more

I was utterly astounded by the rudeness and unprofessional attitude held by the staff and employees at this facility. Particularly the fat woman with the personality problems. I hate to use words like white trash and redneck to describe people but I think I'm forced to do so at this point. I definitely will not pursue any business with them or renew any lease anytime soon. ... Read more

If I could give minus-stars I would. I was a paying customer for 5 years and I just had the misfortune to have the contents of my unit sold off without my knowledge!! Already had this business changed the price of my unit once in the past without informing me in advance or otherwise, and to this date I don't even know that was legal. I had to use a storage because I have moved to Europe. At the stage of signing up I made certain that I left a permanent email-address as I advised them that my phone number and address would soon no longer be valid and I wanted to make absolutely sure that I would never miss any information regarding my storage situation (sure they would also never make an international call). I also left the name and number of a local friend to be on the list of trusted individuals. My contract was paid monthly and automatically via a draft on a credit card. All seemed well. I don't use this card much and it is also automatically paid so I don't check it very often. Well, this morning I did and to my surprise I noticed that Continental had stopped taking money from my card and already for several months. I called C.S. and spoke to the manager to find out what happened Apparently my credit card had expired and.. to my extreme distress, I was told that the contents of my unit had been sold off in auction!!!! Their process as he called it, was, that after 2 months of non-payment and 2 weeks after that the auction process gets started. They send a letter to the address on the initial contract (told non-valid) and make a couple of calls to phone number on said contract (also non-valid) to make contact . But, NOT ONE EMAIL was sent to the one contact on this, my, contract that was insisted on from the beginning. In fact I had been a well-paying customer for 5 years and with the lamest excuse of not being able to get in touch with me, they sold of my belongings. There was not a single REAL effort to find me, no question to what could have happened when it was as simple as an expired card and OBVIOUSLY an oversight. But no, greed and human unkindness; a pure lack of interest, impersonal at best, resulted in the loss of my personal belongings. I am certain that on their end they did the minimum "legal", to facilitate the sell-off an I am helpless in the face of actions like this. It is the worst kind of feeling. There are many young students in Savannah who rely on storage systems. BEWARE and take extreme care to read the fine print, to be vigilant. These people are SCUM. ... Read more

It'e been years since I've seen such poor customer service. Lucky them to be so well placed right near a SCAD dorm, otherwise I wouldn't have rented a unit there. Kevin Moore was extremely rude to me, calling me slow because I actually read the contract thoroughly and having an apparent grudge against students. The address on my driver's license was different then my current one, and I forgot to tell him so, making him mad and ripping apart the contract. Then he proceeds to tell me that that is the reason most storage units don't rent their units to students. If possible, I will rent from another company. ... Read more

All reviews are true. A very grumpy old man runs this business and could care less about it by the way he treats his customers. Probably knows people will still use his facilities because of convenience but don't expect an ounce of kindness or civility from the guy if you plan to utilize this place anyway. He was very rude and condescending to me and my friends, and us being foreigners we were treated like idiots because we had more questions than he liked. Be warned!! ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Continental Self Storage - 102 West 49th Street include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Drive-Up Access, Onsite Manager, Security Camera, Gate and Parking. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
