Aja was very polite, helpful and basically a genuinely nice person. She came out to help me at the kiosk explaining the way that this location like all the locations are the same as far as guidelines and rules and insurance, etc. That puts her in the quite knowledgeable category which is A+ in my book. I now have 3 units with Extra Space Storage!!! i can’t forget another shout out to my guys at the Baby Does lane location: Marquel and Orlando that truly make me feel safe and secure everytime i stop in at the other location. As now a former customer of this Extra Space Storage location for more than two years, I was shocked and deeply disappointed when my unit was burglarized nearly two weeks ago. What made the situation even worse was the complete lack of urgency and customer care from both the facility’s management and leadership—they treated it as if it never happened. To this day, no one from the facility manager, district manager, or corporate has reached out to me. I’ve had to initiate every single contact and chase down updates on my own, only to receive little to no information. No effort has been made to resolve the issue or make things right. I met with the facility manager, Aja, and reiterated what had happened. Instead of inspecting my unit, she handed me an insurance claim pamphlet and said that was all they could do—polite, but came across as dismissive and lacking any urgency. When I asked about reviewing the surveillance footage, she said she could, but I would need to return later as she needed time to go through it. I showed her the photos and video evidence from the night prior of the incident with the police (report # included), since she never looked at my unit herself. The next day, I returned again. She admitted she still hadn’t had time to fully review the footage, but only began looking while I was standing there. The footage revealed an unauthorized individual using the facility’s gate code to enter and exit the property multiple times during the same window my unit was burglarized. She confirmed that this person was not on any lease agreement and was not an authorized user of any unit. This constitutes a serious security failure. Yet, she failed to notify the customer their access code was being used by an unauthorized user. I was also informed and then observed that cameras do not cover every row of units only in front of the elevators, the ceilings are open posing a clear vulnerability. This design flaw makes theft alarmingly easy. Most units have only thin metal bars spanning the gaps, and with the help of a ladder, an average-sized adult can climb over walls, reach in, or even drop directly into units. This means that thieves don’t even need to break locks. Instead of improving security, they simply hand out insurance claim pamphlets that will never get paid out. This vulnerability puts not only customer property, but also customer safety, at significant risk. Despite police involvement and my repeated follow-ups, neither the facility manager, district manager, nor corporate has alerted neighboring tenants in my unit row who may also have been affected by the burglary. It appears they keep incident reporting to themselves instead of notifying customers who could be at risk. It’s a reactive, not proactive, company—at least at this location. After moving out, I returned over a week later to confirm my unit was closed out with a receipt—only to find management hadn’t even noticed I was gone and made no effort to follow up. I spoke with Debbi, a manager from another location, and once again explained the burglary and provided the police report number, which still hadn’t been documented. She contacted the district manager, Greg L., —he never did follow-up, simply stating there was nothing they could do. This reflects a clear pattern of indifference: no oversight, no accountability, and no regard for customer relationships. I have since moved my belongings to a reputable storage company, where the staff and leadership not only emphasized existing security measures but discussed additional enhancements they plan to implement based on my feedback, ensuring everything met my needs. Bottom line: Security at this location is severely lacking. Management is unresponsive and leadership shows little concern. Tenants are not informed when burglaries occur, and incident reports are often delayed — raising serious concerns about how many go unreported. Customer service is practically nonexistent. If you value your belongings and peace of mind, I strongly urge you to consider a safer storage option elsewhere. ... Read more
