This is my second time renting 2 units from Extra Space storage. They have reasonable pricing, clean units and friendly staff. Patty has been great to work with, she is responsive, very helpful and showed me a tour of the facility. I would definitely recommend. ... Read more

BEWARE!!! DO NOT RENT HERE!!! This is not a climate controlled facility and it is not secure. They have a serious moisture and mildew problem. We had our belongings stored for a short 4 months and have mold growing on a majority of our stuff. As soon as you walk in the building you can smell the mold and humidity. We checked the thermostat down the hall today it was 86% humidity in the building and 80 degrees. I have several pieces of framed paper that has moisture beneath the frame, all of our upholstery is ruined and most of our wood furniture will have to be cleaned/sanitized before we can use it again. The bay doors have been wide open since we started renting and half the time the sliding glass doors are wide open as well. The AC unit is a couple of units down from ours and it’s constantly dripping water on the floor, one day it was so bad it was flowing into nearby storage unit, honestly should have moved out then. The manager told us we are not the only ones with moisture/mildew problems. If you do plan on storing here make sure to buy insurance policy because nothing will be safe!!! Update- insurance denied our claim bc they do not cover “moisture in the air” ... Read more

From my interaction with Louis, to an above and beyond courtesy extended by Patty, I would recommend this business for your storage needs. Easy access, automatic payments, and with an area to unload that is covered , and a facility that is air conditioned, and even plays a nice music mix. Thank you Extra Space Storage!!! ... Read more

Great experience renting a new unit today w Louis. Already have 2 other units but needed one down this way. Louis was super helpful in helping me decide what I needed and what worked best and was the best option for me. Louis was tremendous, such a good attitude but having dealt with several facilities and managers over the years, it what I’ve come to expect from ESS. Again , thank you for the personal touch. ... I moved my stuff into this facility at the end of February at their introductory price of $87 for a 10 x 15 unit on the second floor. This facility is easy to use with their drive in bay, plenty of flat bed carts and large elevators. They charge you for their lock upon move in, so you can’t use your own if you’ve had one on a previous storage unit. Everything is well lit and clean. Unfortunately, I just received then new rates at the end of May that are more than double the introductory rate. My new rates by the end of next moth will be $172.01 with tax which I was notified of with a postcard and rate change notice. This seems outrageous and like price gouging! I won’t be staying for those rates. I’d like to be a long term renter, but this seems a little extreme of a price hike. I’ll update this review if they give me a better long term rate. Edit: they did renegotiate my rate down to $90!! ... Read more

Filth, poor customer service, and unsecured facility. I was a long-term tenant, relatively satisfied. A recent management change saw a degradation of my customer experience at the Laguna Beach location. Nicole is the current manager. Over the past few weeks, I pointed out to her issues as they became major. I moved out of a unit yesterday. First, the hall floors accumulate dirt and debris. For weeks I saw no movement in debris and mentioned it to Nicole. She sharply informed me the floors were clean and she cleaned them twice a day. My perspective led me to a different conclusion; there has been a roach on the floor near my unit for several days. Two weeks ago, a dog urinated in an elevator; the spot is still prominent (I assume no cleaning). Later, I pointed out to Nicole the restrooms were consistently dirty. There was no toilet paper in one restroom for almost 2 weeks. Nicole blamed it on customers, but made no move to clean. Nicole works Monday through Friday. I have noticed a bit of cleaning, hitting a few high spots, on Friday late afternoons the last couple of weeks. Why Friday? I'd love to know. Almost 3 weeks ago, I went to the office to find out how long one of the overhead doors would be disengaged. Nicole's trainer was in the office with her. Nicole told me ahead of the trainer that it had been out for several days. I disagreed and said it had to have happened the day before because I used it at 9am the previous morning and it was fine. As I noticed in other situations, Nicole made strong statements contrary to my experience in the matter and summarily proceeded to viciously cut me upon my pointing out opposing facts. The time of the overhead door injury did not matter to me; I just wanted to help with a more precise timeline so they could review much less security tape. What's the old saying: No good deed goes unpunished. The facility exit overhead door has been inoperable and partially open for weeks. The entry door has remained open continually during this time. The sliding door to the first floor is stuck open for days at a time. How secure would you think this facility is? Since so many doors remain open, humidity is beginning to be a problem. In my opinion, the interior air must be circulated to help reduce this problem. Nicole told me, when I complained, that is was 'public' storage and I had to live with the smells. The past few weeks at this storage facility has been eye-opening for me. I have rented my units since last year with generally good service and a clean facility. Since Nicole's appearance there, the customer experience for me has degraded. If you decide to rent online, just reserve and then go check it out. If it's acceptable, just remember when a problem comes up, you may be speaking upon deaf ears. I hope I have given the reader a realistic expectation of doing business at the Laguna Beach location. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Extra Space Storage - 21934 Panama City Beach Pkwy include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Elevators, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 400 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Extra Space Storage - 21934 Panama City Beach Pkwy start from $23 and can go up to $377 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
