Read some helpful reviews of Self Storage Plus at 2301 Lawrence Avenue NE, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

Do not use. Elevators are shut off outside office hours (so all day Sunday). Dollys are unavailable unless someone is in the office, which is rare even during business hours. Had my rent skyrocket when ownership changed from Public Storage to Self Storage Plus. ... Read more

I definitely do not recommend this place to store your goods. I’ve been here for years, and there was an ownership change about a year ago that has caused the quality of service here to decline significantly. There are gnats because the place isn’t clean. Every time I visit my unit, there is trash in the common spaces. Today I noted the stairwell smells like urine, there’s no inspection certificate for the elevator, an open bag of trash was sitting in the walkway with gnats flying all around it, and the security gate isn’t working and is locked in the open position. The external dumpster area was also a mess. When I asked the front desk attendant how long the gate had been stuck open, she said “a few days”, so the security of our items is questionable. I raised all the concerns I’ve noted above, and was told my concerns have been noted, but also that there’s nothing they can do about the dumpster issue, because the trash pickup left it that way, and there’s no way for them to enforce cleanliness within storage units. She noted that the facility is inspected and cleaned daily, but also that it’s not her job to pick up trash that she observes. My concern isn’t with whose job it is, but that the company and owners aren’t maintaining clean standards here. They’ll be losing my business, and I can’t recommend they gain any new business until these persistent issues are properly addressed. ... Read more

I had my belongings stored here for about two months. Do not use the disc locks that this facility provides! My storage unit was broken into and a TV and other electronics were stolen. When I called to complain I never received a response. I am now realized the extent of the theft after moving and unpacking my belongings. The insurance is useless in instances where a skilled thief picks the lock as the insurance only accepts claims where "forced entry" can be proven. I have included two photos of my unit before and after a thief/thieves rummaged through my belongings. If you decide to rent a storage unit here, ensure you bring your OWN lock and make sure it is hard to pick. A quick search of 'disc lock picking' will show how easy it is to pick the locks these storage facilities provide. I have been able to enter the facility more than once without the pin needed to gain access. Security and surveillance is clearly lacking. Update (9/3/2025): As I continued to unpack my belongings, I noticed more of my property was stolen. Over $2000 worth of property was stolen. I have tried to get in contact with this company via email and phone about my issue on numerous occasions over the past few weeks. Bruce said he would be looking into my claim via their surveillance cameras almost two weeks ago, but I have yet to hear back from him. And, despite their misleading response to my review that encouraged me to contact the company, I have yet to receive a reply to my email. Unfortunately, I am realizing it is necessary to escalate matters since this company has proven to be so negligent and unresponsive. ... Read more

I'm so disappointed. This is the worst warehouse I've ever encountered. The elevator breaks down and nobody fixes it, and the furniture can't be moved. Plus, the office is always empty. Their phone number is the switchboard, not the office number. Every time I call, the switchboard answers and transfers me here, but no one ever answers. I called the switchboard dozens of times over three days, and they always transferred me to this office, but no one answered. I don't know if I should report this to the relevant department or management. Who will handle my situation? Never store anything here. Otherwise, you'll end up like me. ... Read more

I can’t say enough good things about the team at this storage facility, especially Erica Wilson and Bruce Williams. I had to go in for some administrative stuff with my unit, and they made the entire process so smooth and simple. I was truly grateful for their great service! ... Read more

Don't go very mad manager with rude attitude. Very poor Customer Service. The employee was unprofessional and instead of answering ours questions he called the police and made a false claim of trespassing and he refused to let us access the unit we being rented for over the year and never experienced like this. ... I rented a unit online and went into the office to check-in. I was shown to my unit and put my lock on it next to a lock owned by the storage facility. The manager said he would come back later that day to remove their lock. I showed up the next day with 5 people and a full truck ready to unload and the company's lock was still on my locker. It was a Sunday so the office was closed and no one could help me. I understand mistakes happen but I would expect steps to be taken to apologize. I had to move all of my house into my storage unit and had very little time. I had to take the next day off work and rent the truck for another day because of the mistake. I asked for a discount off my rental costs because of this and have not received a reply in 3 weeks despite following up. ... Read more

I will not be back. Rented a unit for the month of October. During my setup, I was told to complete the process online to move out 3 days prior to moving out. 3 days prior to moving out, I put in my notice through the website as instructed. On my move out day, I moved everything out of the unit, then drove long distance to my place of residence. A day or so later, I received notice that I was charged for the now EMPTY storage unit. When I called, the person I spoke with sounded annoyed that I called and ultimately told me I had to deal with the cost of the unit since 1) the online process didn't register my notice to move out, 2) I didn't notify them of the move out (even though I did via their site), and 3) I was already charged. I asked for a callback from someone in management or who could assist and never received it. Be careful renting a unit here. *Editing to say that the facility itself is very clean and well kept. ... Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Self Storage Plus - 2301 Lawrence Avenue NE include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Elevators, First Floor Access, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 300 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Self Storage Plus - 2301 Lawrence Avenue NE start from $10 and can go up to $387 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
