Place is affordable yes and convenient to setup auto pay but all my furniture got ruined, it was in storage for just under 7 months, I’ve had storage units before and my things didn’t get ruined, there was water damage, mold, dirt and debris and mice poop all over my furniture, clothing and I had my clothing and home decor all in plastic bins with lids, only some things were in cardboard boxes but most was all covered, there was mice poop in most the bottoms of my plastic bins, all my furniture got ruined with mold and what looks like water damage to EVERYTHING! I had to throw away all my stuff, it wasn’t salvageable due to it being ruined from water, also all my things were INFESTED with FEAS!!! I don’t even have animals! Everything was infested with fleas! I had a FULL blown flea infestation when i went to go grab my stuff out of storage! My car got covered and my new place! Worst experience I’ve ever had to deal with, as if moving wasn’t stressful enough being a single parent with two young children! My sons and wooden bunkbeds reek of mold in his room, my daughters nice white bedroom set which cost me a fortune was all ruined from mold and chewed apart from mice getting in the unit! I want to cry! This was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had in a storage unit before. I notice when it rains water just leaks into the unit because there’s no gutters or anything for the rain fall son it just leaks right into the storage space! DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING OF VALUE OR FURNITURE/CLOTHING IN THESE UNITS!!! It will be damaged! I learned the hard way!! ALWAYS GET TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED INSIDE UNITS FOR STORAGE if you’re leaving things for more than a month! Also you get what you pay for! I regret not getting temp Controlled unit somewhere else! Lesson learned!!! Please learn from my experience, it’s only good for garage stuff and cars etc. not household furniture or personal belongings, clothes etc! ... Read more

The lady running this place is extremely rude and nasty. She had an attitude the entire time signing me up as if she’s mad she’s getting business which I would think she would be happy. She smelled like cigarettes with a pound of makeup up so I expected nothing less. ... Read more

Affordable is about the only positive thing about this place. The woman at the desk is exceptionally rude and speaks to you like you're stupid while LITERALLY looking like a clown herself. Tells me I cannot throw anything away in the OPEN dumpster that is in the parking lot, open to the public. It has no sign saying this is not okay and nothing in my contract about not doing so. Anyone from anywhere could walk up to it and toss anything in since it's not locked. I tried to throw away mcdonalds trash that I saw sitting in my front seat. She came out of the office with a NASTY attitude telling me that the owners "WILL CHARGE ME FOR IT" since it was weighed upon pickup by the trash removal service..... yes. Mcdonalds garbage weighs a ton, apparently. Not only that, she texts me in an extremely unprofessional manner when my payment declined (I had an issue with another business triple charging me and draining my account; Quickly solved and payed within 2 days over the phone). When I called to solve this, she patronized me and was exceptionally rude. All the while, I didn't make excuses or get nasty. I simply apologized and let her know the payment would go through now that money was transferred to the account. She then proceeded to speak at me like I was an idiot and continued to be unprofessional telling me "well you should call and let us know if it's not going to go through" even after paying/resolving it and explaining the situation to her and that I too, was unaware that there was even an issue. If that's not bad enough, the place is NOT secure by any means. The storage units were built by fools and all of the connecting structures are uneven, thus causing LEAKS in my unit when it rains. There is also about a 2-3 inch space between the roof and the back wall that separates my unit from another. The person with the unit behind mine was present and working in their unit while smoking. This caused the cigarette smoke to accumulate in my unit. When I opened the door, the smell just POURED out and now all of my belongings smell like ciggarettes. When I moved in, the floor was not swept clean, and the walls were SMEARED with mud. HORRIBLE service. Trashy place. Absolutely unprofessional and poorly kept. Half of the units are incomplete on the far end. I wouldn't recommend this to a racoon. What a joke. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Affordable Storage Guys - 23 Montville Road include the following amenities: 24 hour access, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 100 to 300 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Affordable Storage Guys - 23 Montville Road start from $120 and can go up to $225 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
