Rented 4 units for over 6 months - facility is great. Easy to access and clean. Paul and Karol are easy to get in touch with and really go out of their way to help with any issues. After the recent big flood, Rob reached out to me and checked on my unit that was on the flood side. Fortunately it was OK, but the personal touch was really appreciated! ... Read more

We had a great experience all around with Southbury Storage. Convenient location, easy access, safe location, and incredibly clean (felt brand new). Perfect climate inside and no bugs/pests! Owner was accommodating at move-out and check-in / check-out process online was very easy. I would highly recommend if you need storage in the area ... Read more

Excellent facility. Just moved from a national chain storage which claims it’s smart. What must be in the fine print, you have to shovel snow out yourself to get access to unit. Southbury Self Storage has some brand new units which accept vehicles as large as minivans. Nice people to work with, clean and organized. Highly recommended. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Southbury Self Storage - 82 Poverty Road include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Credit Cards Accepted, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
