I rented three units over the past year (moving up and down in size to accommodate what I needed to store) and can't say enough about how great it was to work with Lisa, the Hamden manager. She was helpful at all stages, including during my transitions and my protracted move out of state. She's good at sales and good at solving problems. The facility is clean and secure; I was confident in being there when the office was closed. Lisa even has a great playlist that is broadcast throughout the building -- it was actually enjoyable to stop by to visit my stuff. Kudos to her and the Lock Up. ... Read more

I had an excellent experience at Lock Up Storage! Lisa was awesome—she was very informative and took the time to go over the pricing for multiple units, making sure I had all the information I needed to make the best decision. She even gave us a tour of the facility, which was clean, secure, and well-organized. Lisa’s professionalism and attention to detail really stood out, and I truly appreciated her patience and helpfulness. Highly recommend this location if you’re looking for great service and peace of mind! ... Read more

I put my items into storage at this place back in 2018..I never went back to my unit, until 2021 when I could no longer take the rate hikes. The rate for my storage unit was constantly increasing. I was sent an email what my new rate would be at one point then told I was given the wrong rates. My unit was filled with moths and my items had spider webs all over them..I could see my neighbors items piled to the ceiling which is not good due to bed bugs. I will never recommend this place to anyone. ... Read more

Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 300 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Lock Up Self Storage, The - 1950 Dixwell Avenue start from $93 and can go up to $602 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
