Absolutely Horrible Experience This was, without a doubt, the worst experience I’ve ever had with a storage company. Public Storage booked/confirmed a unit for me, but when I arrived, the door was completely locked from the outside. The lock that was supposed to be inside was instead locking the door, making the unit completely unusable. I spent two days calling repeatedly, but no one ever answered. The office was closed during their stated business hours, and customer service was useless. They couldn’t reach the manager and refused to issue any reimbursement despite this being entirely their fault. This is by far the most unprofessional and frustrating service I’ve encountered—possibly only rivaled by flying Spirit Airlines. Avoid Public Storage at all costs. ... Read more

They have more than doubled my rent in 14 months. Suckered me in with a good deal and then raise the rent every 3 months. Started at about $75/month in September 2023- rent will be $150/month after November 2024. It’s not a bad place- clean and well lit, easy to move around in. The hours are annoying though, for me I work long hours and need to move things around at night but must be out by 9 even though no one is there either way. Ok for a short term option but I would not rely on them not jacking up the rent. Tyron in the front office is very nice and helpful. Edit, December 20204: Surprisingly the company stoped an incoming rent raise and left my rent alone at what I think is a fair amount for the space. Not sure why but seems very decent, especially in this age of inflation. Appreciated it a lot! ... Read more

Premises and grounds are always kept clean. The automated gates that open from my app are appreciated. However navigating my account from the app was less than stellar as I tried to close my account after vacating mid month. Tyrone was extremely helpful as the app was about to penalize me for a late ‘vacate’ when truthfully, I vacated early as I paid for the full month in advance. Tyrone was pleasant and a real credit to the Public Storage team at the Danbury facility.. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Public Storage - 77 Mill Plain Road include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Credit Cards Accepted, Elevators, First Floor Access, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 20 to 250 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Public Storage - 77 Mill Plain Road start from $48 and can go up to $444 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
