UPDATE: I’m not sure what happened to Rachel who, by the way was a phenomenal employee, but it seems like kindness and customer service went out the door when she did. The new manager Maggie has been nothing but rude and insensitive since our very first encounter. I rented my 10x10 at $68 a month and after 3 months, my rent more than doubled in price. When I called to express my concern about the price increase, I was told that there was nothing they could do. I brought up the advertised price online & told them that they were offering the same size 10x10 unit and the next size 10x15 unit at a less expensive rate than the price they increased mine to. She stated that there was nothing that could be done and that if I wanted to pay more and move into a bigger unit, that I could do that but they could not help me with the price of the unit I was currently renting. I expressed to her that I am a single mom and I rented with U-Stor Bell because the monthly rate was something I could afford and having 24 hour access was something that incentivized me as well, so that I could work around my busy schedule without feeling stressed about having to be in and out of my unit before a certain time. In June, I was diagnosed with lymphoma, and just recently had to have emergency surgery to have two of my lymph nodes removed in my neck and was hospitalized for 5 days. Because of these recent health issues and the fact that I barely make ends meet as it is, I fell behind on my payments and was locked out of my unit. I had received and invoice 2 weeks ago that implied that a check would be acceptable as payment, and even stated who to make the check payable to on the invoice multiple times. When I went to pay my bill in full, I handed the check and the invoice to Maggie who stated she would not accept it because it needed to be paid via money order. Not once did it express this on any of the correspondence I had received by them in the past. On 8/31/26 my mom, who lives out of town, offered to pay the bill in full for me over the phone so that the stress would be taken off of my shoulders since I have been dealing with these recent medical problems. Maggie told me no. That I had to pay by money order. I explained to her that my mom didn’t live in Phoenix and had no way to get money from her credit card to get a money order. So instead of accepting payment IN FULL I was denied the opportunity to clear the bill and because of that I am at risk of losing my unit to auction this month. I requested the district managers contact information and was denied because Maggie had allegedly just spoken to her and was told that payment would not be accepted unless it was a money order. I called another U-Stor location and asked if this was a company policy and the manager at that location stated that it was typically a policy, however it was at the discretion of the store manager and upper management. He offered me the contact information for corporate so that I could speak to either Kevin or Nancy and that they would be able to assist me further and help me get the bill paid. I called corporate and left voicemails for both Kevin and Nancy and never received a call back or acknowledgment of the situation I am currently going through. On top of all of that, U-Stor Bell took away 24hr access and has changed their gate access from 6am to 9pm. So not only did they increase the rent for what appears not just me, but for many others as well, they also took away the biggest incentive of 24hr gate access. I am incredibly disappointed. And this not only affects me, but my children as well. We lost everything and had to leave our home in April due to a domestic violence situation. And we finally got our own place to live again and we can’t even get the things that make our home a home because these people refused payment in full on the unit they’re now holding hostage from us. I will stay with 5 stars for the company because of Rachel. She is never rude she understanding and respectful. KAREN ON THE OTHER HAND IS RUDE FOR INSTANCE IM PAID UP TILL THE 28 TODAY IS THE 23 AND KAREN RED LOCKED ME OUT OF MY STIRAGE CUZ I OWE 22 DOLLARS. I TOLD HER I WILL HAVE IT TOMORROW N RED LOCKED ME. Well let me tell you about this place, Karen the old manager (who isn't anymore) who appears to be friendly will stab you in the back in a second!!! She runs and tells on everybody, she thinks ks shes a detective or something... read your contract because you will get threatened by the district manager (I forgot his name) if youre there to long, he'll tell you that you can be arrested and thrown out if you are at your storage unit for any length of time and he will terminate your lease there!!! Thats what he said to me he told me it looks like im trying to live in my unit!!! What a joke.... youre not allowed to sit down while youre there you have to be constantly moving around and believe me when I tell you that Karen (the old manager) will be creeping around spying on you.. she plays like shes a perfect person but shes not an honest person like she pretends to be... the new manager Rachel is the best shes gonna take that place to the next level, always so nice to everybody not singling out tenants like the district manager does.... hopefully some of the people there change and dont be so 2 faced anymore!!! Now I have freedom of speech and am allowed to give my review of this place without fear of retaliation.... I pay my storage and Im not hanging out there anymore so I shouldn't have any type of retaliation by upper managment!! U-Stor Self Storage is an excellent place to store my belongings. The managers Karen and Rachel are very professional and polite women, who has made me feel welcomed doing business. They have been working with me for 25 months. The office is very neat and organized. The air is fresh. There is no litter on the floor or behind the desk. The grounds of this storage facility is clean. The signs of this building is visible for prospective clients to utilize. The entrance locks are secured.
