I called the day I got my items out of my storage unit months ago. Never received my deposit , even though I was told I was good and didn’t need to come into the office . Now months later Im being billed a lien for f30 and made multiple attempts to message , call and leave messages . So maybe this review will reach the correct hands . F30 was paid and moved out of and I will not be paying anything on that unit as I paid up to the time I got my things out as well as surveillance to prove . As is you owe me my deposit . ... I have never rented a storage unit here. Just helping a friend move her belongings to another location due to several price increases of which 2 already this year. She has had this unit for several years and has also had her unit broken into in which the thieves went through everything and just tore up and had everything in disaray. The unit she has is one of the larger units... It is not climate controlled and many rats made several homes inside and outside of the boxes, packed in this unit. ... Read more

Horrible customer service. I informed Tabitha on on Sept 30, that I was moving out of my storage. Moved all of my furniture out by Oct 1, and was still charged for the month. When informing the representative Tabitha that she stated as long as everything was moved out I wouldn’t have to pay, she informed me that she didn’t have to state anything and the wouldn’t refund me. Horrible customer service and wouldn’t recommend to anyone!!! ... Read more

I needed a place to park my car, so I searched the net. This place was very close to my job. I read the reviews but noticed, they were a few years old, thought maybe they got their act together or change managers. I found the employees to be very friendly and helpful in getting me a unit that worked for me. Entire sign-up and out the four, less than thirty minutes. Approach this with your own experience, not the reviews from the past. ... Read more

If you're renting a U-Haul truck, find another location. This place is not helpful, doesn't even inform you that they don't have your truck (that you reserved) until after you try to pick it up - got sent to Montgomery to pick up a truck instead, and then you get the runaround when trying to drop it off. I was sent the address for their self-storage units (with a gated, locked entrance). When you call the number for assistance, you just get voicemail and no one calls you back. Worst customer experience I've ever had. Will never rent from them again. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Troy Self Storage - 816 US-231 include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, 24 hour access, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Truck Rentals, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, First Floor Access, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 250 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Troy Self Storage - 816 US-231 start from $50 and can go up to $281 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
