This review is solely for the property on Parkway East in Birmingham AL. Jeannine may have been having a bad day and honestly there are two different regions of Public Storage. ( I was informed) I won three storage units with Public Storage. 1) off of lakeshore, they were awesome, district manager was there, she answered all my questions, had my invoice ready, gave me my storage code and gate key. 2) property off of Oxmoor, we hit a computer snag, but the manager fixed it, had my invoice ready, and gave me the code and gate code. 3) Parkway East, Jeanine seemed to be annoyed right off the back as she was in the units cleaning. I understood because it was hot outside. She asked for the invoice number and I said oh I don’t have it, they had it ready at the other two properties. She said “ well I’m just doing my job and I need to see the invoice number before we proceed”. (They only asked for my last name as the invoice was already printed and ready) My husband proceeded to get my phone out of the car. I said, “ I just left another public storage and the district manager was there and there was no issue”. She replied, “ well that’s another district manager” Cool! No problem! Jeannine took my payment and we proceed outside. She did not give me the code to the unit or the gate code. She opened the gate and literally sat there as if I was suppose to know where she wanted me to go. The gate then closed again ?? only then she speeds up to the gate, reopens it, then proceed towards the unit. ??????? once we were there, she opened the lock and my crew began. Instantly we noticed the unit was in horrible condition. Half way of looking we stop and say hey let’s go talk to Jeannine. I talk to her and say hey can I get a refund this unit is full of mildew. There was a hole in the top of the unit so I’m like is it water damage. Jeannine calls the district manager and we start talking. I say the unit is full of mildew and I see a hole in the top so could it be water damage. I show Jeannine the picture, she says that’s not water damage! Ok yall! Then she (DM)is talking about how it’s my responsibility and I’ll get banned, then Jeannine says well it does that when it is in there for a long time! I am so fine with that, but if that’s the case why not just put in the description everything is mildewed. So I said, “ didn’t someone take the pictures, so someone saw the condition of the units when it was opened” and by her comment seems like she was aware of the mildew. Jeannine says “ I didn’t take any pics!”…. So it’s my loss, but please be weary of THIS Public Storage! I have never had to deal with this kind of unethical, unprofessional, disrespectful behavior before. This is for Jeannine and her district manager. The district manager was very kind off of lakeshore, she should probably give her colleague some pointers. On another note I have been doing this for a while. There is a refund policy for auction buyers if the description of the unit is considered biohazard. Well at other places ?? I think rodents and mildew should be outlined in the description. Anywho. This is my opinion. ... Read more

Apparently the system down. No one was there to help. I started calling numbers and leaving messages at 12:48pm. No call back yet. However, let rent be late, I get numerous calls, texts, and/or emails. My POV in the picture ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Public Storage - 9856 Parkway East include the following amenities: Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Keyless Unit Access, First Floor Access, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 250 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Public Storage - 9856 Parkway East start from $27 and can go up to $186 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
