Why Renters Love It Here
Good place
Been here 3 years it's laid back and fairly decent
U get what u pay for and then some
Its like one big family. Apts are small but if ur on RAD rent is cheep.
So Much Potential
Ive lived here for few years now. Things were getting better. But now im not quite sure
Mind your business
Good place to live....just mind your business...not hard to do
You get what you pay for plus a lil more..mindset
It's honestly not that bad for PJ living and as anything in life it's all about ur mindset and your attitude toward things. The rental price is amazing for someone starting life all over again and isn't employed yet and for what lil u pay in that case honestly you can't complain and it definitely beats being on the streets!! Sure the apts are small but if your by yourself their just perfect when starting out again and the bigger units are actually nice. Once you gain employment, if your on the RAD program or have a PB voucher, (I WOULD NOT CHOOSE HERE TO STAY IF YOUR PAYING FULL RENTAL PRICE!) you can start the self sufficiency program (maybe even before u have a job) and they'll match you up to a certain amount in a savings account to be used on toward a chosen goal purchase at the end of the program. Learn more here https://www.evansvillehousing.org/resident-services/. After living here a year on the RAD program/w a PB voucher you are automatically allowed to "level up" to a HCV/Sec 8 voucher opening up a lot more different housing options either in Evansville or the ability to Port out to a different city or state. It's alot quicker then waiting on the section 8 waiting list! Utilities are even included w your low rent so really can't beat the value. You will be living amoung alot of complacent proverty living folks but they are good people for the most part. As long as you don't allow yourself to mingle to much or at least not get caught up in everyone's drama everyone's great. They have a lot of community activities to keep your mind and time occupied like cookouts, bingo, kareoke, movie nights etc. Your allowed to have pets but you'll need emotional support papers or theres fees to pay. There's not alot of kiddos...more now then when I moved in but prob still under 10 total. Management changes often so be sure to stay up w your paid rent and insure to always keep receipts and never pay cash! Fire alarm goes off too much..be careful when cooking.
