Yes — many properties on RentCafe allow you to join a waitlist and complete part of the application process before an apartment becomes available.

    What is a waitlist?

A waitlist is a list that lets you apply for a future apartment of that floor plan even when there are no available apartments. Unlike a standard application, multiple renters can apply to the same waitlist spot.

How do I join a waitlist?

When you check apartment availability on a floor plan, RentCafe.com will show you both available rentals and the waitlist options. If the apartment you want to apply for isn’t currently available, click the “Apply to join the waitlist” button.

As a waitlist applicant, you will be asked to:

    1. Select the floor plan you’re interested in
    2. Fill out the application form
    3. Pay any required application fees
    4. Complete the screening process

Once you’ve completed your application, you’ll be contacted by the property manager to let you know whether an apartment has opened up and you can continue with the rest of the application process from there.

You’re also welcome to join multiple waitlists at the same time, so you can keep your options open while you wait for the right home.

Tip: Each property manages its own waitlist, so selection methods, application fees, refund policies, and wait times can all vary. For specific details about a property’s waitlist policy, reach out to the property manager directly.
