I DO NOT recommend renting a Killam apartment. I have lived here for 2 years, and have had nothing but bad experiences. The building has been under near constant construction since moving in. They have redone the roofing, elevators, and surface level interior updates to the hallways and lobby (this is the first time they have been updated since the building was built over 30 years ago). They notified us that, because of these renovations, they will be increasing our rent by 5.5% next year. This is on top of the rent price already listed on this website, making one of these units priced the same as luxury units in brand new buildings on the market. This building has NO amenities, no ability to add a buzz code unless you have a local number, and outdated features. Our units have been renovated on the surface, but still have baseboard heating and window AC. The window insulation is horrendous, and we spend around $200/month on utilities in the winter because of it. The renovations are also cheaply done, and we have many issues such as drawers falling off. The building managers are subpar at best. Trash is always dumped in public areas, and there are tenants that actively smoke in the building with no repercussions. They do not give proper notice before maintenance--I have had my water shut off without notice, and the fire alarm goes off routinely without us being warned of a drill, to the point where no one even evacuates anymore. We had a leak in our ceiling once and they did not bother addressing our calls for over 24 hours. It was a known issue, as a water spot had been clearly painted over. We have more water damage (unrelated) in our apartment currently and they have left it unaddressed for 2 weeks. This hardly scratches the surface of my troubles here. They clearly don't care for the quality of the units or tenants quality of life, and only care about getting the most money out of you. I urge you to rent elsewhere and not make the same mistake I did.
