12th street between a and b is ideal for the east village, community garden across the street, stores all around, young neighbors, quiet on weeknights. Only negatives are the lack of natural light in my room where the window faces a brick wall (but I don't mind since it doesn't wake me when I sleep in) and the funky maple syrup on rotting wood smell in the hallways (probably stemming from an apt near the trash area in the backyard on the 1st floor)
