Because you asked

The building is not treated well and there is an ever-changing rotation of mostly incompetent "security" personnel in the lobby who routinely mess up deliveries, packages, announcing visitors and the like. In addition, due to age of the building and cheap band aid "fixes," we often go without water/hot water. The workers try their best, but don't get the support needed from management who look to cut costs over doing what is right/best. As a result, the tenants suffer, which should not happen anywhere, especially in their "crown jewel" property.

Beautiful building, great neighborhood

I have lived in this building since 1994. Maintenance and service is excellent; the house staff are great and responsive when you have an issue. The property managers have been generally reasonable, but we've had 5 in four years! And if you get a rent-stabilized apartment, make sure you know the Rent Stabilization Code or have a knowledgable advisor, because I guarantee you the managers do not and you will get lease renewals months late, be saddled with illegal fees, and other unnecessary indignities. But, bottom line: I've lived here almost thirty years and I still LOVE living here!
