Why Renters Love It Here
Resident review
The place is great!, it is a brick built building with recently renovated units, in unit washer and drier, dishwasher and a very fancy feeling inside. The building lacks of other amenities like gym or social areas. Parking is awesome, key in the area because is a bit busy outside. Overall is a very nice apartment, very well located and with great features.
Spacious and cheap, but not really worth it.
I lived here for about a year. I would describe it as cheap and spacious, but in the end not worth it. It's a studio, and as such, presents many challenges with insulation/cooling/heating and noise insulation. It's a 15 min walk from Newark Penn Station, and close to Ferry St, but generally it's not a safe area to be in. Don't be out after dark. Staff: I talked to my neighbors. Some neighbors have a great experience with the staff (leasing agent, maintenance, etc.). OTOH, we've had a lot of radio-silence, slow or cold responses. Not very enjoyable to talk with them. They're also very difficult to reach (they constantly insist on reaching out through Rentcafe, and otherwise are difficult to get ahold of). Maintenance: generally good. Expect 2-8 days of waiting before they can service issues with your unit. Also, in our case, they had to visit our unit MANY times to fix our AC/heater. Quite frustrating, but they fixed it (somewhat) in the end. Also, be prepared to wake up in the middle of the night/morning when the cleaning staff come and make super loud noises in the hallway, which echoes btw. Amenities: lol, what amenities? Parking: yes there is parking, but good luck getting it, even for a short while, and even if there are empty spaces available.
Beautiful building with some loiters
The Building and apartments are top notch. It’s apparent that quality materials and craftsmanship were used in the construction of the building. Apartments are spacious with quality in unit appliances including washer and dryer. Location in the Ironbound is amazing - access to great restaurants - but also super close to New York penn station and airport. Maintenance staff and management are pleasant and very responsive. Luciano does a great job maintaining the building keeping it clean and fresh (painting common spaces). Private parking is also a game changer. However, all of this is somewhat overshadowed but they vagrants, alcoholics that congregarte outside the building some of whom literally camp out outside. These are people with severe cases of alcoholism. They urinate, vomit, expose themselves, hurt themselves (I’ve found multiple people severely bloodied), or passed out on the sidewalk. They also leave the front of the building in disarray leaving broken beer bottles, beer cans, food and trash. The liquor store - which is part of the building (a nice to have for convenience) is the attraction for these vagrants. The liquor store staff are pleasant people but they do not manage who they service. They continue to serve these people and do not cut them off or warn them about idling outside or making a mess.
A nice secure upper class building
A nice loft apartment in a renovated cabinet factory. The developers did a real good job.
