Benton Stephens

My partner and I have both lived at Benton Stephens for about a year and, overall, have had a good experience. We enjoy the slightly quieter location--it is close to campus, downtown, both hospitals, Stephens Park, multiple shops and grocery stores etc. The previous landlord was kind and usually quick to respond and resolve issues. The rent is great (in this economy) compared to most downtown locations. The only complaints are that the laundry room is disgusting and not up to code in terms of safety (we also live right above and can hear everything). The door slams about every few hours, there is a steep (wet) concrete stairwell with no lights, and after storms, water pours in from the laundry room ceiling (aka our apartment's floor). We have also had some issues with the contractors who mow and power wash the place (they power-washed the storm seal off of our front door along with all of the decorations). We reported the damage to the property owners with no response. In the future, we hope for an easier way to request and receive maintenance and report damages by third parties, especially for shared resources like laundry, and we would greatly appreciate it if all residents were re-briefed about noise levels and cleanliness around the property (people regularly dump their old furniture in the parking lot, and the city is not supposed to pick it up, so it just sits and rots. People also leave jars of used cigarettes soaking in waterbottles on the patio). Thanks!!!
