Overpriced “income reduced” living

The Flats at Malcolm Yards was my first apartment by myself. When I first moved in last October, the rent seemed a little steep for “income reduced” but I decided it was worth it for the location, amenities and apartment features. A year later and I can confidently say that the rent is pretty egregious for “income reduced” considering with parking I would be looking at just north of 1.6k a month (considering electricity and wifi), after I was notified my base rent was going to be raised by $100. The apartment itself is cheaply made and everything seems to fall apart or break at one point. Thankfully, it is mostly loose screws that I can repair on my own, but my toilet seat constantly coming loose and cabinet doors falling off does not scream “well made” to me. Also considering that the rooftop is not accessible without a pre-planned trip to the office M-F and a $150 money order, makes it impossible to use on a whim and this was not disclosed when we were moving in. The only redeeming factor is the staff are friendly, super caring and helpful. They work hard to keep the residents happy but I’m sure they deal with a lot. They communicate well with weekly newsletters in the elevators and notes at your door if necessary. Moving again was not in my playbook for this year, but considering the money i will be saving in the long run it will be well worth it.

Love it but

Love my apartment im a single mom with a 3 year old daughter i work 5 days a week i try to go to bed early but Unfortunately my neighbor has her music blasting all day and night!!! I dontthink she works bc its a constant music festival next door . Its like hello u have nieghbors?!? Its really annoying bc me and my daughter cant get any peace without having to hear a concert next door . Weve mentined it to the office . It worked for a week or 2 and yet shes back again blasting music at 8 am on a sunday when im trying to sleep in :((((
