The Ascent At Farmington Hills

I have had a wonderful experience thus far.

I have lived in The Ascent since 2019 and every year it gets progressively worse, while still increasing the rent annually. The apartments are cheaply and poorly made, the appliances are worn down, and the walls are extremely thin to the point you can hear everything from your neighbor's apartment. The staff is extremely rude and will do next to nothing to help you if you have a problem. All they want to do is extract as much money from tenants as they possibly can while spending as little money as they can on their end. Not to mention the apartments are extremely overpriced for what they are. The dishwasher in my apartment was broken and clogged and when we finally got maintenance to come fix it, they did nothing about it and left without fixing it. My spouse had to dedicate an entire day of their weekend to taking the dishwasher apart and fixing it themselves because the apartment refused to do anything. Our air conditioning is constantly breaking in the Summer as well and if and when we ask someone to come out and fix it, they give us attitude and grief. We've needed an HVAC professional to come out and fix the AC for over a year now and I am sure it will never actually happen. The Ascent probably likes to state it is a luxury apartment because of the pool and gazebo area, but it is next to impossible to use both. The pool is closed half of the summer without explanation and in order to use the gazebo, you have to pay to rent it. If someone else has rented it at some point during the day, no one else can even sit over there, even if the people who rented the gazebo aren't even there. When it snows, The Ascent is very slow to get the complex plowed and there are constantly multiple cars that have fallen into the ditches due to a lack of salting and plowing. If you inform The Ascent about this, they do not care and just blow you off. In fact, if you bring a complaint to them about anything, they will just gaslight you about how there is nothing wrong.

I have enjoyed being here. I find it comfortable, grounds are kept up well and staff helpful and kind.

I love living here. Maintenance takes a while to complete orders but other than that, its a great place.

I've lived here for several years. At first the value was OK, but the owners don't upgrade anything and continue to increase your rent. This last rental period I asked them to give me a value statement of why my rent went up, yet no fixtures or kitchen appliances have been upgraded in years (not the cabinets, nothing). I asked for a sign-on agreement. They refused. To summarize - Property company can't explain why they are charging you. They refuse to upgrade anything. And they won't give you a sign on to cover part of the first month's rent. Not even a couple hundred dollars. Nothing. If you don't care about any of the above and simply want a nice location that is comfortable...This is the place. If value matters to you, go elsewhere.

I have been here many years and it is a wonderful place to be, especially with a puppy.
