Champion House Apartments

It’s been comfortable and convenient to live here for over 8 years. Management is responsive to our requests, typically. We are located near community hubs, have easy access to public transportation, and parking included in the rent, which adds a lot of value for us.

It is a convenient and accessible location, with parking, which is a great bonus in Brookline. The building offers limited amenities, with shared laundry (only 2 washers and driers) for the entire 30+ unit building, out-dated call-box services allowing only one phone number to be associated with the call-box per apartment, and peeling paint in some of the not-so-recently renovated apartments. The maintenance team is polite, responsive, and helpful with quick problems.

I have lived at Mason Terrace since 2016. Since all the other units surrounding mine have been renovated, the noise level has increased dramatically. I used to never be able to hear my neighbors (for probably around 4 years) - I loved living here. After the surrounding units were all gutted and renovated, I can now hear every single footstep, music, and toilet flush from the upstairs units. I have complained to building management and asked if anything could be done about this (since it is definitely a new problem caused by poor/no soundproofing installed during the renovations) and was told simply "no." Additionally, when construction or maintenance is being done in the building notice is almost never given to tenants to plan accordingly for the loud noise. If I was just told in advance I would make other arrangements for the workday and plan around it, but it is always always a surprise when someone just randomly starts ripping out tiles in the unit next door or gutting an entire kitchen with a sledgehammer. Some warning and a time frame would be appreciated.
