They will not fix your apartment

Oak Park Apartments never prepared our apartment for new tenants. They did worse than the "landlord special". They do not replace or repair any known broken and expired appliances. My smoke/carbon monoxide detectors were over a decade old (Oak Park Apartments' own repair person was shocked and worried). They will raise rent without telling you. Be careful when signing with this company. They will never be on your side.

Would Recommend

I really loved the in unit laundry and sun rooms. For the rent price, it was great to have both of those amenities. This location is tricky due to limited parking. You either have to pay an extra $80-100 for a designated spot (and they're very limited) or $125 for a street parking permit every quarter for a very limited selection of parking as well. Recieved a lot of parking tickets even with a permit simply because three large apartment buildings share one block of permit parking. I also would note that I lived there for 3 years and my rent increased by $100 every year I renewed.

Room for improvement

Hardwood floors are thin and crack easily. It is clear the cleaning/painting crew did the 'landlord special' (doorknobs painted over; spiderwebs in corners and above 4 feet were not cleaned, doorknobs unrepaired); kitchen faucets, fridge, etc. were not repaired before the move-in date, despite the five days the required for staff to clean and make necessary repairs. This leasing agency is decent, but they need to have a reliable maintenance crew that will do their due dilligience before new tenants move in.

Parking is an issue

It's a great building, but parking is an issue.

Great value in good area

Pros: clean common area, yard, and rear entry way; multiple garbage bins; in unit washer/dryer and central air/heating; vintage buildings with high ceilings; ceiling fans in every room; maintenance help lightening fast; good area; friendly staff you can get in touch with quickly and conveinantly Cons; inexpensive and fraglie blinds procided; parking isnt included, street parking is hard to come by and paid spots by landlord are extremley expensive; vintage buildings come with squeaky flooring/can hear upstair neigh or noises in every room
