Response to Safety Incident

I am extremely upset with Gables Speer and Gables management in your response to my security issue that recently happened to me with a vagrant entering the building and my encounter with him inside the elevator. I understand none of us have control over homeless, but you do have absolute control over your property and warning other residents, and to secure your building. It’s 3 days later, no ones been warned, no emails to the residents and yesterday the large garage door was open in a up position again, which could allow vagrants to enter again. Do I need to continue to be traumatized by thinking someone’s in there, or that this could happen to someone else. Extremely upset!!!!

3-year resident review

I moved in when it was brand new and it was really nice. It's been showing some wear and tear recently but the location is hard to beat. The original construction was not by Gables so it isn't the same quality you would expect and I have water damage in my apartment after 3 years. The street noise is one of the reasons I'm moving. 6th is an ambulance/fire route and Grant can be loud too. Staff is nice but definitely not above and beyond. The value was perfect when the property was new but it is now probably a little overpriced. The pool is nice but in the center of the property so it never gets any light this time of year. It is also not heated and there is no hot tub so it can only be used about 3 months out of the year. The west facing deck is really nice in the afternoons. The gym is quite small making it not very conducive to social distancing in the age of COVID. It has also been closed for awhile now after a fire on the 3rd floor. They also have stopped securing all packages since the pandemic. Some packages are just sitting out in the mail room. I really enjoyed living here up until about 6 months ago.

The staff is the best part of The Gables.

Having found The Gables during COVID, there were certain aspects we were unable to see. the amenities was one. the fitness center would have likely been a deal breaker, and was surprising given the price point of the rent. The fitness room is small, crammed. and has limited equipment where, with Social distancing, not more than 3 people could comfortably be working out at a given time. Fitness centers in apartment buildings are critical for relieving stress at this anxiety provoking time and this one is an extreme disappointment. The outside deck is beautiful, as is the pool, and the common room. The fitness center, something so critical to today's city dwelling population, has been overlooked so badly.

Not only is our community pet-centric, but we’ve developed Gables Paws to Care™ program to celebrate your pet while also giving back to the pet community! Come visit us at the leasing office for special treats for your furry friend to learn more about our great program. Gables Speer Blvd. welcomes cats and dogs, with a maximum of two pets. For one pet, there is a $300 fee, and a $35 pet rent. For two pets, there is a $400 fee, and a $70 pet rent.  We do have breed restrictions, and invite you to contact our leasing office to learn more!
