Overpriced

I love this area. Now that I'm settled in everything is okay. But when I moved in, so many things were broken. It was as if no one did an inspection. My bedroom door doesn't close all the way, the blinds are cracked and falling down, my sink leaked, the windows didn't close all the way, the AC only blows up at the ceiling and does not circulate so my place is always hot. I wasn't given a working door code for a month and I've been locked out multiple times because sometimes the door code device just won't work. I have the jankiest apartment in this building and I still pay as much as everyone else. I am in the only unit that hasn't been remodeled which was news to me. I would've been willing to push back my move in date to have a remodeled apartment. I signed a lease without touring my specific unit because I have been inside another unit in this building and I looked at all the pictures on the website. I assumed they would all be relatively similar but I made a huge mistake. I don't have a dishwasher like advertised. I asked about getting a dishwasher installed and they said no. My cabinets and countertops are from the 80s. I have popcorn ceilings and the closets don't have doors. I'm mostly upset that I am paying the same rent as everyone else in my building that aren't living in a prehistoric hot basement :( I put a lot of time, money, and effort into making my setup work for me so I'll likely renew my lease because I like this nice quiet area.

Overall Experiance

I have lived here for about a month now and no complaints other than I request a fan to be put in my bedroom since the air doesn't circulate back there and gets hot. But other than, no complaints. Maintenance is quick, like the rent reminder, move in was easy. Location is great. Overall good experience so far.

Comfortable 1 bedroom

I have lived here for almost one year and have loved it. The unit is renovated with great storage. The people in the community are kind, vary in ages, and there is very little to no noise. The neighborhood is safe and walkable with Sprouts and Wash Park right around the corner. There are great restaurants and bars in the area making it a fun place to decompress after the work day. I've had great experiences with the maintenance and emergency maintenance teams. They are fast to act and kind during the process. The rent is great for all the pluses for this building and unit.

don't waste your money

Don't waste your money, even if the neighborhood is desirable. This has been one of the most unpleasant and frustrating companies I have ever rented from. After having resigned a lease for 1 yr, I was notified a few months later that when they pretty much replaced their entire team that something in my contract "fell through the cracks," and all of a sudden, I was on the hook for a brand new lease that was $200 more a month than I was initially locked in, non-negotiable, no apologies. On top of that.. you are responsible for all the utilities, which come from an average of the entire building.. So, in my case, it has been paying an additional almost $200 a month on top of the rent hike for this polished turd of an apartment. Why, if I'm on vacation for two weeks, should I be paying for someone else's electricity, water and gas? While I will say the maintenance guys are very nice, It's almost impossible to get ahold of them, and half the time they don't even fix what they came to look at (my screen door has been broken since I moved in two years ago, the keypad on my door dies a couple of times a month, if it’s in single digit or subzero temps, apartment heat can’t get above 65 degrees)... and did I mention that calling the office feels like you're talking to someone that has been so incredibly inconvenienced by the fact that they have to entertain a conversation with one of their residents?
