Hello I signed a lease for apartment 2140 at Arcadia Cove located at 2252 N 44th St in Phoenix Az on July 26th. The rent was supposed to be $1,345. It was advertised as a second floor renovated apartment with vaulted ceilings. Move in was scheduled for August 23rd. However, today August 12th, I was told the apartment was NOT renovated and as a result would NOT be available for rent. I was informed if I wanted a second floor renovated apartment, I'd need to pay $100 more a month. Considering today is the 12th and move-in isn't scheduled for another 11 days, it seems like they should be able to get it renovated in that time frame especially considering I have a bit of flexibility on my move in date. However, the problem is amplified by Arcadia waiting OVER two weeks to notify me of their breach of contract. It seems as if the delay was a tactic to create a sense of urgency which makes tenants more vulnerable. In fact, Arcadia Cove heightened the problem by not returning calls as their nonchalant, dismissive demeanor when I tried to resolve this matter. This clearly seems like a bait and switch. And it is especially concerning because they still have that apartment listed with the same false advertising and had no explanation for that when it was brought to their attention. Online reviews further document their unscrupulous dealings.
