It is always so peaceful and quiet at the Summit Apartment Homes. The amenities, staff, and maintenance are amazing. The gym could use some updating due to a few machines not working but other than that I really enjoy living here.

Coukd be better. So fixated on making the outside look good when the inside is the problem. Just because you remodeled the outside don’t mean raise the rent when the inside needs the most work done and haven't even begun to fix thise problems.

Living in Shreveport, LA

Living in location

Shreveport is a mid-sized city situated on the Red River in northwestern Louisiana. Throughout the 19th century, Shreveport was home to several major oil companies. However, the oil industry has since declined in the area, and the city has diversified its economy. Today, Shreveport renters have access to a variety of job opportunities across the corporate spectrum. Additionally, many movies and TV shows are shot in the area due to Louisiana's film industry tax incentives, which also provide jobs for local renters. The Barksdale Air Force base is also located nearby, so many military members rent in the area. Shreveport has also become a regional entertainment destination, and there's no shortage of fun things for renters to do here.

The city is particularly well-known for its riverboat casinos, as well as the waterfront Red River District, which is home to the Shreveport Aquarium, the Sci-Port Discovery Center and a variety of restaurants. Creole and Southern cuisines are particularly popular among local renters. Additionally, outdoor lovers renting in the area will also enjoy visiting nearby Cross Lake, which is a very popular place to go boating. As a city with a spirit of renewal, Shreveport is investing in its future, fostering innovation through tech startups and business incubators. With a blend of southern charm and contemporary dynamism, Shreveport provides a unique setting for renters seeking a vibrant community with a forward-looking vision.

Renting in Shreveport, LA

Many renters are drawn to Shreveport because of the area's very low cost of living. Rental prices here are much lower than the national average, especially for cities of a similar size. Although Shreveport's downtown area is very walkable, neighborhoods outside of downtown are not dense and have a traditional, suburban feel. As such, you'll find plenty of low-rise apartment communities and single-family homes for rent, many of which are on large lots that have plenty of outdoor space. Like many U.S. cities, Shreveport has many ranch-style and craftsman homes for rent. The city also has some historic buildings that feature Greek revival architecture styles. There are also many apartments in the area that cater to military families stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base.
