We were lucky enough to stumble upon the Equitable Apartments last year, unfortunately circumstances are causing us to move, but we have really enjoyed our time here. The "Staff" is great. Chrissy has been so helpful, she really went above and beyond her responsibilities when we needed guidance. The Maintenance staff has the building looking great and they work to keep it that way. As well, they have been very responsive to our trivial questions and concerns. The 3rd floor dog park is a great convenience, I do not know how any dog owner lives in the city without it. We highly recommend The Equitable and the city of Des Moines.

I have absolutely loved living here. Nice apartments and unbeatable location. Easy walking distance to any downtown locations while being far enough removed that it is quiet and relaxing. Commuting simple with access to bike trails and quick driving access to highways.

I've lived here for six months today, and I really do like it a lot. I MAY have made a different decision if I a) had a car at the time I was looking, and b) was able to be in the apartment in the evening. I needed a downtown apartment because I work downtown and didn't have a car at the time, so any place outside of downtown wasn't an option because I couldn't go see it. And apparently Des Moines apartments can only be shown during business hours Mon-Fri, so I didn't fully appreciate how busy 7th St. is; the road noise in the summertime from the revving and peeling out at the light at 7th & Tuttle is formidable, and the sirens are constant. Now that it's colder and the window is closed, we can still hear some noise but it's just normal traffic noise at a normal volume. I very rarely hear my neighbors when inside - the guy next door is a scream-sneezer, but that's sporadic, and the doors don't do much to keep hallway noise out, but it's not like people are hanging around out there. It's nice that the living room is away from the front door. Amenities - now that it's cool enough for me to be outside and enjoy the rooftop deck, it's locked. Being able to grill in the winter would be amazing. Maintenance - the maintenance chick is awesome! Very responsive with good communication. Administration - Shannon left shortly after I moved in, and Korrie seems really on top of it. I have bouts of confusion with how rent payments should be made - I get notices from "Conservice" whatever that is, but I just make my payments through RentCafe and it's fine. Parking - Safe, no problems, but it's only on the north side of the building. I would like the option to park on the south side of the building for ease of using the remote start for the car. In short, I'm not sorry I moved in but haven't yet made any decisions about what will happen when my lease is up - now that I know Des Moines better, and have a car, I have more options.
