Teachers have lowered their standards in the classroom to accommodate those students who just sit and do nothing! The National Honor Society (faculty run group) has already LOWERED the minimum GPA for entry into the NHS from 3.5 - 3.2. Places athletic events and awards well above any academic achievements.

I was an athlete & was only treated differently by one teacher throughout my four years. In fact, when I had to leave school early for track meets, I found my teachers annoyed. I have had classes at this school that were easy, & yes, if you are lazy you will pass, but you will not have an A or B .. maybe not even a C (personal experience). The Board of Education really does favor the AAA schools over the rest of the schools in the county because we do not have as much money, or at least that is how it seems. Although I loved Lincoln & learned a lot, I was not prepared for college at all. I do go to Wesleyan though, which is one of the hardest colleges anywhere.

I am currently a senior at Lincoln and a member of the marching band, concert band, soccer team, National honors society, Key Club and Christian club. As you can see I alone am an example of all of the available after school programs you can be involved in and many more are available. Many people talk down at our school but it is just because the majority of us come from poor economic backgrounds. Also the Board has done an extremely poor job at assisting our school, they are too worried about their crown jewels Bridgeport and RCB, and we are only at the level we are because of our administration. I also take duel credit college classes and to tell the truth the people from Bridgeport seemed to do the poorest, due to the complete lack of motivation and their total lack of understanding of how to write a paper.

I have a son that goes to LHS. The faculty and staff are sport oriented. If the student is active in a sport (ie football) then they get treated with high priority. The non-sport students are not as 'important'. Plus, if the childs parent is a business owner in the community, they are treated better as well.
