The school prepared me very well for college. I am majoring in Biology at WVU and currently have a 3.75 average entering my junior year.

I have been both a student and a parent in this school system. I have been in many other areas in the country, and Philip Barbour falls way short of what other school systems are doing to provide quality education and environment for their students. To be fair, a lot of the issues are not just the school alone. Thee school board seems to be clueless as to what is best for those who matter most...The Students!

This school is outrageous. They demand to much of their students while providing them with a mediocre education. The principal lacks any real leadership skills and aside from a few teachers, most would rather talk about their own children than actually do their job. As a student of this year's graduating class. I fear that I'm not going to be prepared enough to succeed in college.

While this school has done much to assist students who have fallen between the cracks of public education, little is done to help those at the other end of the spectrum. I am a graduate of Philip Barbour who now attends an elite university, and it was here that I realized how poorly the honors and AP courses prepared me, and certainly others, for college. Despite a handful of exceptional teachers for whom I am incredibly grateful, many others have no regard for the impact they are making upon their students, and the administration can be relied upon to suffocate any true progress, both individual and collective. There is nothing wrong with being average, but for those who wish for something more, I recommend looking elsewhere for the necessary stimulation and guidance.
