As a community member I would feel very concerned if any of my grandchildren went to this school. It is incredibly violent and reacially injust

We have two children in the DLI program at Leopold, and we are very happy. The teachers and staff are very loving, caring, and professional people. We feel that our children are getting a great education experience at Leopold.

We have been very happy with our experience at Leopold so far! Our child loves going to school every day and is always talking about the things he's learning and the different activities going on. I have found his teachers to be approachable and very helpful. Any questions or concerns we've brought up with them have been immediately addressed. One of the things I like about Leopold is the diversity of the student body; I think it's extremely important for children to spend time with and have the opportunity to make friends with people of different races and ethnicities.

Our experience at Leopold has been wonderful. The teachers are amazing and our two kids are learning more than just standard academics. The environment is diverse and welcoming, and our kids are very aware of respecting all individuals regardless of ethnicity, race, disabilities, etc. They create amazing art projects and learn keyboarding in the keyboard lab in music class. The student council is very active and supported by extraordinary teachers. The parent faculty organization puts on many events that involve the whole school community throughout the year, and there are events almost every Tuesday night for kids and parents to attend that range from hip hop dance classes to craft making to dance performances to coding classes. The principal is enthusiastic and approachable. We are very pleased with our decision to send our children to Leopold.

This school seems to be reactive vs proactive. Instead of starting out each school year with high expectations for the students to be successful (academically, socially, and behaviorally) there seems to be a lack of ground expectations. From my experience this has led to many children struggling (again academically, socially, behaviorally). This leads to many outburst disrupting classmates and also causes difficulty for the teachers to teach. Many students seem to be on behavior plans in attempt to support social/behavior deficits, however with the inconsistent expectations/consequences the behavior plans don't seem to actually help the students in need. While visiting this school on multiple occasions, students can be seen from the play ground (which you pass by to enter into the school) and directly in front of the school entrance physically fighting other children and staff members. This school also has an advanced program for children who excell in math/reading, however it hard to gage weather or not Leopold actually has/utilizes tools to appropriately assist the students with continued growth. It however does seem that if your child participates in the DLI program (dual language) you will have a better experience with this school and staff per my experience speaking with parents of children enrolled in this program. I would not recommend this school to others for these reasons.
