We have been a part of APM for four years, and feel like we found a 'home away from home' for our children. The community feeling at APM is awesome. The teachers each have a paraprofessional with them all morning, so the students have the support they need during the three hours of work time. If you observe any classroom during worktime, you will witness an amazing atmosphere of peace and productiveness. In our experience, the teachers communicate with us on a regular basis and we work together to ensure the success of our children. The principal is also very approachable and supportive. One of our children is extremely self-motivated, and the other is not. Both are thriving and developing new life skills because of their experience. APM focuses on the whole child - not only superior academics, but also valuing the intrinsic virtues in all the children and guiding them toward being positive, productive members of society. I can't imagine our children attending any other school - we are grateful that AASD is so supportive of charter schools like APM. Next year APM will offer a Children's House, starting with children who are 3-years old.

2 of my kids have attended this school for 3 years now and we LOVE it! They have such a passion for learning they have gotten from being there. The classrooms are so nice and welcoming, the teachers are all great, we just love everything about it!

This is a program designed to start with kids at kindergarten- not older kids who know there are other ways. Classrooms are active and at times not controlled. Things occur as teacher is focused on other children. Children are encouraged to work with each other which-great but also leads to selecting friends and not allowing for a more experienced child to help a younger one, leading to the younger kids left to sink or swim if they don't understand and the teacher is busy. We pulled our child from the program when it was clear we were not getting cooperation in helping him to succeed- it is a mono focused method of teaching- if you do not fall in line with it, you are written off as not capable.Look closely at the program and your child s learning style before enrolling. Understand the methods of teaching are not meant to meet the needs of many children- it is narrow and inflexible. Teacher waited 3 months to alert me to problems, she told me my son was incapable of doing certain things. His test scores had been soaring the year prior and now suddenly were plummeting yet the teacher could not see any fault on her part, poor teacher accountability- unacceptable.

A gem for our community and our family! My older son attended APM for six years and our middle son is currently in third grade. We have been so happy with APM: the teachers are wonderful and dedicated, the Principal is involved and passionate about the charter school and Montessori and the relationship with Johnston is very positive. We could never move out of the area and leave this school, we are so fortunate to have had our children in this environment!

My son started at APM in the fall of 2011. His teacher is so dedicated and gives more than 100%. The principal is also one of the best. He works long hours and also attends the PTA meetings. He is also approachable and is fully committed to running the best school possible. The Montessori philosophy has been phenomenal for my child, and I look forward to having my daughter enter APM next year. I couldn't ask for a better school for my children. As for the parent review that said many children left because they were falling behind, all I can say is that only one child in my son's class has left all year, and that was due to a parent job transfer out of state.
