Hathaway Elementary School Ratings & Reviews

My kids started summer school at Hathaway. I would not recommend any parent that school for safety reasons. My son was swung really high on a swing by a recess aid and flew out of the swing and landed on his back. He hurt his back, head and fingertips. She asked if he was okay to which he replied that he was not sure, at which point she proceeded to take him to the school bus to go home. She did not at any point teach him down to the nurses office to make sure that he will be okay and no one even notify the parents of the fall. In my opinion this is neglect. If a child tells you after a high fall that he's not sure if he's okay they should have at the very least notified the parents. I am still unable to get a call back from anybody at the school with an explanation. Because of this I will be taking him out of that school immediately. He came home with a bruise back complaining of back pain. Our regular school is Gause and we never have any problems, they contact you even for a minute scratch. I don't feel that the school should stop following proper protocol just because it is summer school, it is still a government facility that deals with small children. Very disappointed.....

I am very disappointed with Hathaway school. My kids started summer school at Hathaway and one of my boys was hurt by an employee at the school. She swung him to high on the swing, and he flew out of the swing and landed on his back. He hurt his back, hit his head, and hurt his finger tips. The employee asked if he was okay to which he replied that he was not sure, at which point she proceeded to take him to the school bus and did not even take him into the nurses office to make sure that he was okay. The school did not even bother to notify the parents of the fall. When he got home he was complaining of back pain and I found a bruise on his back. In my opinion this is neglect. When a child tells an adult that he is not sure if he's okay after a fall, they should have at the very least notified the parents. I am still unable to get a call back from the school with any type of explanation. They just don't seem to care. My kids regular school is Gause, and we have never had any problems there, at Gause they are very careful and call for even a minute scratch. I am taking my kids out of Hathaway immediately and would not recommend that school to anyone for safety reasons.

Hathaway has been a great school for our son. He has learning disabilities that were brought to our attention by a teacher which led to diagnosis and the help that he needed. We have had consistent support and great encouragement by the staff of this school. My son is happy and confident and I attribute much of this to the care and excellent teaching he has received.

Hathaway has been one of the greatest experiences for not only my daughter but for myself. For the first time i did'nt have to get up and yell for her to wake up and get ready for school she got up got ready and was so excited everyday to go to school she loved it. That meant alot to me that my child was getting all that she could out of school that she dreaded breaks early releases and doctor appts she would argue with me just to stay at school .... I am so sad that we had to move because she is unsatisfied with her new school she doesn't even want to wake up to go.. i miss this school the best school ever..she misses her teacher
