This school has grown more clique-ish as I've been here.Cons: It's sad to see the poor excuse of student government, as they will exclude you from having an opinion if you have to work with them. Staff is disorganized, student groups are unbalanced in respect. The choir and asl students are over-glorified while other language/performing arts programs wither. Some teachers simply don't know how to properly teach and some single out students and ridicule them in front of their peers. The general student body is mostly high, have questionable morals and a lot of debating happens because of general negativity from students. For most of my high school career I did not feel welcome despite my efforts. Students can be harsh on others. Air conditioning purposely not used and temperatures can reach up to 90 degrees. Disciplining focuses too much on dress codes and ignores abusive/violent students. Students at football games do not like the band despite the band being 99% of the spirit there. Kind of funny but mostly rude. Non-financial aid students are ignored when it comes to college stuff.Pros: Some teachers really try to make sure their students feel welcome. I feel more welcomed by them than the students! The band program, despite floundering with a not big enough budget, tries their best and succeeds more than I expected. Theatre program is great, everyone from either of those programs are lovely human beings. Counselors are understanding and helpful, but I still feel unprepared for college. As long as you know what your academic skills are, you can apply them to classes as difficult/loose as you need them to be.

This School/ School district is horrible when it comes to dealing with bullying issues. They absolutely do not support the child being bullied at all and try to point the finger at the victim as if it was their fault for getting bullied or try to pull up something the victim has done or did in the past to point the finger at the victim as well. And then they just give the bullies a slap on the wrist and the bullying continues until parents are forced to remove their children out of the school or district completely . ZERO TOLERANCE MEANS ZERO TOLERANCE!!! I think this district has a lot of fixing to do because their system is totally messed up and it is 100% unacceptable for a child to ever feel unsafe and not supported in school!!!! This is exactly why we have kids shooting up schools and kids killing themselves!! When will you people learn! No wonder most of the people I know that live in the district Home school their children or put them in a different district! Wake up evergreen school district!! I will never trust the school or staff of this district ever again!!!

I have been happy with the level of education and interactions with teachers so far. We moved from a "desired" high school boundary to Heritage and are on the border of two other high schools. I was a little worried at first if moving was the right choice. Why would we leave if there was the opportunity to go to the newest high school with strong athletics? I wasn't convinced that it was so great from my interactions with other parents and students. I felt my kid would get lost in the crowd. Most of the kids at that school are from privileged families. There were hundreds of kids trying out for sports that only the select few got to actually play or make the team. I was looking for a diverse student body, committed teachers, and opportunities to participate. The teachers I've met at Heritage have been supportive and really want their students to succeed. Most seem to really enjoy teaching. My freshman is doing well. I appreciate the diversity of this school which I feel reflects the community we live in and have found Heritage has a lot to offer.

I work at Heritage. It is a good school with a lot of resources for all of the students here. However, every parent needs to know that cell phones are not welcome in the classroom. Your child is not doing well because they won't put their phones away during class and focus on learning.
