Glenwood Heights Primary School Ratings & Reviews

I have had 3 daughters went to this school and 3 more at school now. The teachers and staff are nice very welcome. Parent involvement works great. Even though school is old but I like that is a lot of large families are there. Just think, if the school is overcrowded it tells me more about that this school is good.

Although the building is very old, the teachers and staff make it a wonderful community. My kids have thrived in this school

My Daughters are the third generation to attend Glenwood in my family. My three sisters and I all completed school in the district, went on to get college educations and are all pursuing successful careers/families. It is accurate to say that this school lacks funding, updates and general support from the community. However, like others have said, the staff and parents make all the difference here. The curriculum was then and still is great, I don t believe that fancy computers and innovative programs can compete with a child who feels cared for, supported and confident with help from teacher AND parent. I feel my daughters have every advantage here as any other school and am confident in their success and growth thanks to the amazing team at Glenwood who genuinely love their students.

I have had two children go through this school & I cannot say enough about the teachers & staff! The resources are very limited but everybody works so hard to make it a safe & educational environment. My children have both had fantastic teachers who advocate for their success! They have felt cared for & I have felt good about them being in the hands of this school!! If you want a school where the teachers are connected with the children & devoted, this is a great place...for bells & whistles, computer labs & fancy libraries, Glenwood is not - BUT if you want your child cared for as an individual & supported, this IS the place!!

The staff are all very nice people and are doing the best they can with what they have. I know because I used to volunteer several days a week in the classrooms there. There is a significant issue with overcrowding, twice as many children in this building than the Vancouver School District's elementary buildings. The staff lacks simple supplies such as copy paper and books. I do not find the reading program 'Story Town' nearly as good as the impact the 'Read Well' has young readers. There are serious infrasture issues as well. You can count the stains on the floors from the roof leaks. The library is tiny, very few computers for children to access, no engaging extracurricluar activites (unless you have $$ for the outside sponsored Mad Science and Art classes) Very disappointed in the lack of community support.
