The Evergreen School Ratings & Reviews

My son has been at Evergreen for two and a half years and enjoys going to school. It’s heart warming every time I hear the head of school, faculty, students, and other parents greet my son by name. I often hear him singing songs he learned in his music and Mandarin classes. He’s excited to share the projects he’s worked on at school. He’s made “just because” gifts to give to his teachers. The other day I asked him what he’s grateful for and he said “Evergreen”. I’m truly grateful for The Evergreen School as well.

We couldn't be happier with our son's experience at Evergreen. He comes home from school every day enthusiastic and excited about learning. Our car ride home is filled with examples of the hands-on engaging experiences. The social emotional learning is emphasized and seems to be integrated in all aspects of the school. We've found the fellow parents to be welcoming and supportive, and the school offers lots of opportunities to build community.

"At Evergreen, my children are challenged and engaged in the academic curriculum, which is what we came for, as their previous school had bored them to tears. We were sadly surprised to find the social/emotional atmosphere for the children is not great--it wavered between mediocre and not so good. When I asked my children if the kids around them seemed like particularly happy kids, they said ""no."" Make of that what you will, but from an insider's experience, be aware that your child will get a very good academic education in a social-emotional setting not much different from any public school in America."

I am a parent of two Evergreen students and my wife and I could not be happier. We have been at the school for 8 years and each year has been amazing. Both of my children are thriving at this highly capable school and the faculty is engaged in their growth and development. The teachers understand exactly where each student is at and are able to meet their needs. Honestly, it's a fantastic place to raise our K-8 kids. The student body is great with caring, curious learners that genuinely support each other. The parent community is very strong and there are events throughout the year outside of school set up just for the parents. One of the most impressive things about the Evergreen School is how dedicated they are to the social/emotion growth of our children. This is a school for highly capable children with lots of integrated STEM projects but the finer points of leadership and community are embedded in the course work. This is a school where my children thrive and can be their best selves. I would recommend the Evergreen School to my closest friends and family.

If you are considering this school ask yourself if you want your children in a school where bullied kids end up having to leave it while bullies continue to reign. My oldest was one of the bullied ones for three years. We talked to the school all the time and they did nothing. Not only that, they raised questions about our child’s behavior (I guess when a kid gets bullied he or she needs to let the bully do his/her thing and not react to it). The counselor and the school leadership are a disgrace. The best thing we ever did was to take our children out of that school. I only regret not having done that way earlier.By the way, I am an engineer and I am not impressed with their math curriculum (at least not in the earlier years).
