Westside School Ratings & Reviews

Our son was at Westside for 7 years and our daughter for 9 years. Both are now at a top local high school, involved in extracurricular activities and pulling excellent grades. No school is perfect, but Westside was excellent and is always working to improve. The community has a close-knit feel that supports learning and families. The learning environment is supportive and encourages students to think and to work well with others by means of project-based learning. Our kids wouldn't be where they are today if we hadn't found Westside.

Westside has been an incredible experience for our son. He started at Westside 7 years ago and has been thrilled with the caring and academic experience. His particular interest has been Chinese and he has really been allowed to flourish in this environment. This spring he will join his class on a trip to China which will really be the capstone of his enthusiasm that heΓÇÖs gained for the Chinese program. WestsideΓÇÖs leadership team (the Head of School, Assistant Head and other leadership) continues to impress me. The faculty care about the children ΓÇô and the low student to faculty ratio allows them time to get to know the kids. The community at Westside extends far beyond the students. Families really come together to support each other as well as the whole community creating a great environment.

Two of my kids have attended Westside School, and we've been thrilled with the experience. The school provides a combination of challenging academics and an emphasis on emotional intelligence that our kids have benefited greatly from. Alumni parents have told me their graduating kids were very well prepared for high school. The school has experienced change over the past several years, including the addition of a middle school, two moves and a head of school change. But it now has a permanent home and strong leadership. I strongly advise anyone looking for an elementary and middle school in West Seattle to come visit it and see for yourself.

Our two daughters have attended Westside's Middle School and we feel very fortunate they've had incredible faculty, strong academic and foreign language (Spanish and Chinese) and athletic programs, and amazing experiential learning trips (twice a year!). The school has worked hard through administrative and faculty transitions, and the move to a beautiful new campus, to ensure that the focus continues to be on developing strong, confident learners. The middle school graduates, like my oldest daughter, are being accepted into the best area high schools and testing into honors level freshmen classes, especially languages. Our daughters' years at Westside allowed them to become confident, academically strong, poised and compassionate young women. Westside is unique in it's PK-8th grade experience and, thanks to our new leadership, we have been excited to see new families coming from Mt. Baker, Columbia City and Normandy Park. I was shocked to see the strongly worded comments posted on Nov. 13th and feel that they are false and malicious statements that do not at all reflect the faculty, staff and families at Westside. When considering any elementary or middle school, it's best to visit and judge for yourself. It's an exciting time to be at Westside!

Our daughter has been a student at Westside School since kindergarten--and she's now in 5th grade. We could not be happier with the education and guidance she has received from the amazing teachers at Westside. Our daughter is a happy, kind, confident, and well-educated young woman--thanks in large part to the highly competent teachers who ensure that every student in the relatively small classes is receiving the attention your child needs.
