Montlake Elementary School Ratings & Reviews

This is a wonderful school made up of a tight-knit community of very involved families. The PTA pays for additional teachers/programs. Our daughter especially loves the art teacher and greenhouse classes. Homework is a fair amount with "optional" pieces for students who want to do more. Teachers ask for parent feedback and listen/adjust accordingly. We could not be happier and love this school.

I think this schools rating is inflated because it's in an affluent community, parents have money to spend on good pre-school and after school study. Facilities are terrible. Homework is a joke and I don't believe it's ever reviewed. I keep finding unfinished homework in my daughters backpack and her teacher never requests it. This isn't just one teacher, has been happening across many grades.

My son has blossomed in this school. The teachers are absolutely wonderful. Particularly Ms. Lee. The school has great energy and a very special feel to it.Frederica Jansz.

I'm a grandmother of 3 girls who have/are attending Montlake. I have volunteered once every 2 weeks for now my fourth year -- and I love the school. I enjoy the teachers, principal, office and cafeteria -- and especially the kids! The oldest has moved on to the APP school, Thurgood Marshall, after choosing not to go last year. Our youngest, a Kindergartener, was so excited to finally go to Montlake, that I didn't think she could survive until that first day came. Volunteering there is the best day I have in two weeks!

Old school values combined with rigorous curriculum and a concentration on the arts and environmental science make Montlake a terrific neighborhood school. Winner of Overall Academic Achievement awards the last two years as well as Achievement in Science in 2011. Engaged teachers, dedicated staff and an active parent community make for a nurturing and welcoming place for learning.
