Matheia School Ratings & Reviews

This is our child's second year at Matheia. Enrolling her at Matheia is the single best decision we've made as parents. I'm watching my child blossom before my eyes as she develops confidence in her ability to read, write, and learn math. There are all the regular benefits of small school/ class size, meaning that each student is given lots of individual attention and can work at his/ her own pace. Art and science are daily classes, and your child will play outside every day. The teachers are knowledgable, kind, and invested in your child's success. In addition, there is a tremendous sense of community in this school. The kids are given opportunities to interact with students in different grade levels, for example, and there are opportunities for parents to participate in the classroom, too. It's a wonderful, fun, and engaging learning experience and we are so lucky to have found it.

Our daughter has been attending Matheia for six years. We especially like the teachers who are specialized in their subject matter area, small class sizes, art and recess every day, appropriately sized homework assignments, and the fostering of the love of reading from the very first day of school. My daughter also participates in the school's Peer Advocates program where she is learning to lead and advocate for the needs of others. Matheia gets high marks from us for academics as well as teaching social and leadership skills that will last a lifetime.

We've had a wonderful experience with Matheia school. Both our children started here in K and we have now been part of the school for 5 years. The teachers are engaged and enthusiastic. Our children are thriving in all subjects, but especially reading, art and science. I love that the focus is on learning as well as being a leader and responsible member of our community. They really work with the kids in developing leadership skills and it shows. The 5th graders are consistently confident, well-spoken, thoughtful and generous. We have yet to have a child move on to middle school but all accounts I've heard are that they kids are very well-prepared for area middle schools. Only downside I feel is it actually being slightly TOO small (for our older child, not as much of an issue for our younger child).

This school teaches students to become the best they can be in academics and in leadership. They try their best to support all students. Even if all students don't feel like they flourish most do. Most I have heard from former students are doing well in their classes in middle school. Specialist teachers work well for many students, it helps them prepare for middle school too. Many students are ahead of class level, some are coming along at their own speed. Not all students are rock stars and that is just fine. This school tries to make students feel happy with who they are as a person and as a student.

This school nurtures you and teaches you how to solve problems, advocate for yourself and be a positive roll model along with all of the standard academic subjects. I know that I wouldn't be the person that I am without this school. My younger sister still attends and we hope she learns many skills as well. This school is supportive of you and embraces your weaknesses or disabilities. It teaches you to be yourself and prepares you, if you are older, what to face for middle school. With what they taught me, I now feel confident to move on. The homework loads are very small, but so you don't expect homework loads to be small at all other schools, they teach you homework levels at all other schools. There are just so many good things about this school that I can't put into words. It is so unique, and you learn skills that no other school would teach, such as being a peer advocate and a problem solver, so you learn how to help others. Class sizes are very small so teachers can work with only you and while you learn what you need to learn, you also have fun! You can march in parades, go on fun field trips, and put on shows. This is by far the best, supportive, nurturing school you can send your child to.
