Assumption-St Bridget School Ratings & Reviews

We have 2 children at the school and have been here through the years of leadership changes. The comments about lack of funding couldn't be further from the truth. The school is beginning a major 7M remodel and renovation beginning this June funded in large part by pledges from the community.

After learning that this school has hired the interim principal to be the permanent principal, we have decided to withdraw our kids from the school. It is clear this school needs leadership and a change in direction. By staying the course, ASB continues to fail students with a below average education and a faculty mixed and matched together with little experience and even less capabilities.

Our family has had an excellent experience at ASB. Last year there was leadership and faculty turnover. However, I am convinced that the school community has emerged stronger from that experience. What institution doesn't have its growing moments? It's what comes after those moments that matters. As principal Kathleen Conklin has a very steady hand. We have a child with learning differences and I have always been able to get meetings with leadership and teachers quickly and with great outcomes. They are open to my ideas and I really feel that we work together to support my child. We have 3 kids at ASB now and we, like many of the families we know, are committed to making this a great learning community for everyone. Take the negative comments with a grain of salt - this is a school with many happy, healthy, kind kiddos and families.

Unfortunately the teachers we met last year when we toured the school are gone. The administration is in transition with interim principals and vice principals. We have learned that the school has financial resource issues, and not adequately funded. We feel after choosing ASB that we were deceived by the marketing and families we were introduced to. This school is stuck in the dark ages of schooling and seems to have lost a bunch of faculty and has no money to improve.

Why I pulled my child out of ASB: Assumption St. Bridget has an active parent community, and most of the kids are really good kids. Over the past few years, ASB has suffered from a drain of quality teachers. Last year nearly 20% of the teachers left the school. This came after several years of faculty departures. This talent drain has been reflective in lower test scores. However, while academics have declined so has the building and grounds. The financial situation of ASB is worrisome. The school lacks resources to compete in attracting top talent in teaching and current facilities lack modern expectations. My family and I could no longer spend $15k a year for an inferior education at a dilapidated building and for those reasons we pulled our kids out of school at ASB.
