The counselors really seem to care about the success of the students. School is located adjacent to Washington State University, tri-cities and students can earn college credit through the running start program.

I give Hanford an average rating. The teachers are great and they help you with what you need. However, the pricipal, Mike Gaddis isn't a good principal. He only makes an effort to get to know the students who play sports. You rarely ever see him out in the hallways saying hello to students and getting to know them. Tory Christianson, however, makes it a point to get to know the students, greet them daily, and meet them in the hallways throwing out high fives everywhere. Another problem is the security staff. Joe Powers and Andy Ashworth are very strict and only get to know a certain group of student. Mostly wrestlers seeing as how Andy is a wrestling coach. They only go to the parking lot to fine students. The parking lot is not clearly marked where students vs. staff may park and they're not fair about fining students. -Coming from a Hanford High student

Hanford is an amazing school. We live in Pasco but it is well worth the commute to have my kids receive a top notch education with caring teachers and administrators. The student body is friendly and my kids have made friends so much quicker and easier than they did in Pasco. My children were skeptical to make the switch when I first suggested it but, even after two years, they are still thanking me for transferring them to Hanford. We've enjoyed it so much we have decided to move to Richland to ensure a spot for our kids at Hanford High and so all our children can attend Richland schools.

HHS was chosen by my kids after being in the Delta High School program for two years. It was disappointing because as a new program they lacked the depth and choice that they made us believe was available in a STEM school. The HHS student body atmosphere is friendly, the teachers are committed and go the extra mile, the office staff is helpful and kind, the sports programs are excellent. We can't say enough good about our experiences at this school. We are not "helicoptor" parents, and we certainly make our teens be responsible for their choices and actions -- in this school, that is encouraged. There is the exactly the right amount of motivation, encouragement, training, and learning being done at HHS. My son took 4 AP classes his senior year. Instead of just leaving him to struggle alone, all of his teachers worked WITH him and the OTHER teachers to help him succeed. This would never happen in any other high school in the area. We strongly recommend this school over Richland HS (where my son also attended one year). RHS has some great teachers; but the "whole package" of support from the administration; staff; teachers and students is what makes HHS stand out far and above RHS.
