Albert Einstein Elementary School Ratings & Reviews

This school is so diverse with many, many ethnicities attending. Teachers and administrators work together to make the school a safe, tolerant, and accepting place for all children and families to be. Bullying of any sort is not tolerated. Acceptance is taught. A parent who complains about bullying is not listening to all parties. If you want your student to experience a realistic school with today's diverse ethnic population then Einstein is your school.

We just moved to the area and enrolled our son here. Within a few days he was being bullied and picked on at the playground. We spoke with his teacher and she said she would take care of it and notified the principle an school psychologist. It didn't stop and my son was afraid to go to school. We moved from Ca and he had never experienced this treatment before. We have since pulled him out and are now trying to get into a private Christian school. It is very sad in this day and age with all the awareness about bullying that schools still allow it to happen.

My children are assigned to very highly-rated schools for elementary because of where we live, but I wish they could go to Einstein instead. I volunteer regularly in a classroom at Einstein, and the school is full of caring and skilled teachers, welcoming staff, and a great new principal. There is a real sense of community at the school. What was most surprising to me is how much FUN the children seem to be having while they're learning. I would advise any parents in the Einstein area to visit the school and see for yourselves.

We were redistricted to this school from Horace Mann, and I was initially so disappointed. We were quite close to sending my 1st grader to private school. Now that we have been there for one month, I have formed so many opinions that i hope others find useful. I like the school for the following:~The teachers are highly credentialed. Unverified, but I was told that there are more masters degrees here than other schools in the area. I know this does not necessarily mean they are good teachers, but right off the bat I am impressed. My daughter loves her warm, loving teacher who communicates at a high frequency to the parents, and took a lot of time to develop a relationship with my anxious daughter.~The teachers are more compassionate and more intentional about fitting curriculum to skill level. This is a huge benefit to both highly achieving kids as it is those who need extra help. I like this idea of small group instruction around each subject area. This is different from what we had at Mann. ~There are more teachers to each student, and the school gets a much bigger funding pot than the surrounding schools. Every dime counts. There are more programs, like free tutoring for qualified students, ELL, and special anything...CONS:~A lot of the administrative staff is new. It's a lot more disorganized than Horace Mann was. ~Orientation this year was a mess. Microphones not working, people shuffling around bumping into each other, etc.~Parking lot is not managed well, and parents will randomly park all over the place. I always feel that kids might get lost. I have heard about kids getting on wrong buses and being lost.~Last year's principal (has left) scared me about all the kids who are struggling with transitional life issues. She said there were kids who were going through transitional trauma (poverty, broken families, crime, etc). Apparently there are feeder communities of transitional housing that turns over every 6 months. I haven't seen this manifest in the classroom, but if all these kids are coming in for 6 months at a time, the average standardized scores will never rise, right?

My school is GREAT! I have a kindergartner at Einstein and he is thriving at Einstein. I honestly don't understand why this school receives a low rating. We have two other elementary schools within a .5 mile from our home and could variance into them but after touring Einstein during kindergarten registration, I saw a hardworking, focused and organized school. As I walked by classrooms the students were engaged and focused. The kindergarten teachers were great and explained their goals for all children. My son LOVES his teacher and comes home and shares with me what he's learned. The class size is small and he loves his other activity teachers too. Einstein teachers are more highly qualified than the other elementary schools too. I've just started volunteering at the school and I always feel welcome. I spoke with other parents in the neighborhood with older children and they also feel their children are having successful school careers. I can suggest that if you aren't sure about the school, just stop in and introduce yourself. The staff is great and welcoming!
