I came from a very oppressive school environment and really feel like the vail has been lifted. PB Elementary is a breath of fresh air. The staff here really brought me on as part of the team right away. I have already formed strong connections with my students, and the principal is a high contact principal who always has time for me when I have questions or need advice. The parents of my 5th/6th Grade students are absolutely fantastic! I went from a school where I had 35 students in a class and very little support from administration, to PB Elementary where I have 23 students in my class and more support than I know what to do with. The staff REALLY cares about the students. It is truly a blessing to be here!

Our school has embarked on an intensive alignment of the Washington Standards with our Math curriculum. This in turn will be aligned with the Common Core Standards in Math and Literacy and our teachers and students are engaged in this process for a school high on expectations in assessments and knowledge. We make every effort to engage families through our website which is updated weekly and newsletters sent home monthly by the office and weekly by the teacher. Sharing responsibility as a parent to check with their children and their child's teacher ensures students success and communication with the staff is critical if one has any concerns. Bullying is never tolerated. The entire staff is trained and we use PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention System) for our students with weekly staff meeetings to keep the culture positive and bully free.

This school should have more writing, English and science curriculum. Also more extra curricular activities. I haven't been notified of any yet, but I know they have Basketball. Compared to the schools in the big city, my son has much less homework and I feel that he isn't being pushed to his full potential. I feel like they encourage laziness and idiocy. Mrs. Colgrove is great, she's not a teacher but a teachers helper. She is patient and really helps the children learn how to read. As a parent, I don't feel that I get notified as much as I should about events. Sometimes the fliers don't make it home in the backpack. The school website is unmaintained and never updated. Emails go unanswered. My son didn't learn how to write cursive in 3rd grade. Made it hard when transferring to a bigger school. Bullying is kind of ignored here.

We transferred our daughter from a big city school to PB Elementary and it has changed her life. She now loves school and loves learning. The small class sizes and experienced, caring teachers made all the difference. Not like her former teacher who told me "She don't play with the others!" when I asked why she didn't like kindergarten.

I think we have a great school! Great teachers, parents and community to support our kids! School of Distinction Award 2007 from OSPI. Awesome teacher to student ratios. A band program from 3rd grade on. Sports, art and music!
