If on a scale from 1-10, 1 being the worst, and 10 being the best. My vote is a...10!!!!!

If I had to choose a number it would be a 2/5. I think this school means well but I feel there is a huge miscommunication with how they handle bullying as discipline. I believe they want to encourage the children to be more respectful, and compassionate but really drop the ball when it comes to actually enforcing and achieving those goals. They focus on the short term goals slapping disciplinary referrals on issues that truly should be addressed. I think a lot of children who are struggling go on struggling until it’s to let into the year.

Raising 3 children and just finished 13 years at L.P. Brown. Opportunities for success are available, and your child is as successful as you are involved, both at home and in the classroom. Most of the challenges at the school are social (behavior issues+parent apathy). Solid staff with currently a great principal. Nearly 60% poverty rate as of 2015, which is on the highest end of the school district. However, L.P. Brown stacks up to any school in the district. In spite of some challenges, there is opportunity to thrive thanks to some great "anchor" staff. If you are moving to this area and judge a school purely on test scores, you are setting yourself up for disappointment. Every school has the occasional teacher that should have retired 10 years ago, a bully, etc. Conversely, every school has accelerated learning programs if that's what you're looking for. Check parent reviews, available programs, talk to people in the district, and meet with the staff to make an informed decision. In the end, you can get a better education at the "worst" school than others get at the "best" school, but all you parents out there have to work hard for your kids. All the best to you!

The May 12, 2016 comment is absolutely wrong. I have never seen any of those things stated. We have 3 kids in the school and since getting the new principal, everything has gotten a lot better. He's very good with the kids and as the March 29, 2015 comment says, knows our kids by name. Every teacher we have had with our kids has been good, and have really challenged one of our girls who was ahead of the pack. We are very satisfied with this school!

HORRIBLE. We are moving to get away from this school. No discipline, cussing, bullying, inappropriate behavior. Principal does nothing.
