Worst experience ever. Zero leadership. Administration is a joke. Lord of the flies, entire staff besides (and sometimes including) teachers rude to students and show no respect. Wonderful families, so sad.

Our family moved to this school district from the east coast. We have one child. We have had our expectations met and surpassed each step of the way with Lakeview. We came in at the same time as the current principal, Mr Thatcher. This is a smart and joyful man who is in the classrooms, in the lunchroom and even outside meeting the buses in costume. He is on the front lines at school. This is not a disinterested, burned out leader- this is a guy who is lighting a spark in adults and kids alike. Come by & meet him if you want to get a feel for this school.I know you are worried about the learning. It is plenty rigorous. Lakeview has a very clever and collaborative system with math for instance where kids who do very well in a subject with have plenty of chances to move forward and be challenged while kids who struggle in that topic receive the support and extra teaching they need. I'm pretty sure the kids aren't even sure which group they are in. Neither your high achieving academic kid not your struggling at school kid will feel like they stick out in a bad way. This is a non threatening place. The kids feel safe. The quality of the teachers they are able to retain in this district is no surprise but it is impressive. Happily, in addition to all that math and reading, this is a school that is still allowing multiple recesses, treats brought in birthdays, goes on field trips, has a large and active parent support group, has a valuable program that helps the kids develop all their "inner life skills", and an approach to bullying and general unkindness that we could really get behind. They have art, music & offer choir & band. There is also a program each quarter offering multiple after school(for cost) classes with everything from chess & drama, to jump rope & skiing. Our child walked through the doors knowing not one person and today it feels like she knows everybody. She developed quality friendships with both kids and adults. This is not a elitist east side school if you fear that type of stereotype. This is not a pressure cooker, academic factory spitting out identical robot kids. This place feels like a high quality academic camp. This is a school full of families from a wide variety of backgrounds, led by adults that are so good at their jobs that you will know how exceptional it's going to be by the time your kids are done with day 1.

We have two kids in this school and have been very impressed. The teachers are collaborative across the same-grade classrooms and really care about the students. They work hard and use new and innovative approaches to improve learning. It's a happy and energetic environment with strong parental support. It's all reflected in the consistently rising test scores.
