For the most part, the teachers and students are great. There are some that have no business teaching children, and some students that clearly need more direction and consequences for damaging behavior. At its core, this school has an administration problem. This school could be SO great with the right leadership. But, this principal has no business being a leader to anyone. He has been allowed to systematically abuse teachers and invite the community into the school to abuse them. Morale and turnover are low because of a lack of good leadership. I loved my class and I loved being a teacher to my students at Cedar Valley. There are moments that no amount of abuse can take away from me. But, the abuse that this administration has heaped on MANY teachers is inexcusable. I wish that this school could be as cool as many of the kids that pass through those doors. They deserve to have the best, but they are forced to attend a school where the principal is a narcissistic abuser of perceived power. He mandates strips teachers of their right and ability to have any kind of autonomy in the classroom. The district forces the teachers to use curriculum that is poorly made and doesn't teach kids the core concepts they need to know. Both school and district administration don't understand what kind of foundational concepts need to be learned before abstract concepts can be understood. They don't understand that people need to be treated decently and respected to function at their best. The bottom line...I feel bad for the kids, their parents and the teachers that are stuck going there. It could be so great, if some things were changed and there actually was a culture of positivity and respect. Unfortunately, that won't change while the current administration is in place.

My experience so far at cedar valley has been positive. The staff at the schools does an excellent job from what I have experienced at taking care and educating our children. My son is in kindergarten so it’s my first year having a student attend. I’ll be straight to the point I was hesitant sending my child to a title 1 school. I’ve been happy with our experience so far! Being involved with your kids education is key!

My 3 children attended this school a few years ago. The school is among the worst I've seen. The teachers don't teach and get paid for just showing up at school on a daily basis. One of my children's teacher screamed at the class for being loud and told them directly that they were the worse class she ever had. During a parent/teacher conference, my son's reading teacher just sat there and told me to read the comments that were written on the report card rather than telling me verbally. There wasn't any need for a conference if this was how the reading teacher handled it. This school needs to be evaluated for quality and credibility. Please look into this for the sake of the children.

At Cedar Valley Elementary the office staff are always very helpful and informative, and take the time to know the children's families and various circumstances. The faculty and staff strive to make learning a great experience for the children. I want to thank all of them for their hard work and dedication. Most of all, Mr. Rosand has been a great Principal and he is there for all of the children at Cedar Valley. He is easy to talk to and he's friendly and he cares about the success of each child.

Cedar Valley has great teachers, staff and principal. They work at every level to meet the needs of each individual child. There is also a lot of community involvement and support from organizations such as Covington Kiwanis, Covington Rotary, Mt. Vineyard Church, and Costco. The school has a grant for after school assistance every day all school year long and summer school is also an available option. The school also serves as a site for free summer lunches for kids. The PTA provides an after school art club and an excellent and fun reading incentive program. If you are considering Cedar Valley, go for it!
