Grand Ridge Elementary School Ratings & Reviews

The information on great schools is not accurate- there are 27 children in a classroom (not the 20 it lists). The classrooms are very large, there is no homework sent home and in general I don't feel like the school does a great job on communicating how students are individually progressing. There is only 1 conference a year (this is a school district thing) which seems like not enough. I believe there should be one in the end of the fall term and one before school is out for the summer. I don't see many activities related to reading and I also believe that reading levels should be taught together. We had an experience with students bullying my daughter this year (3rd grade) and although we did meet with the Principle I feel like the compromises that were recommended continued to leave my daughter feeling disconnected from her friends. They do move the problematic child to another class room but the overall bullying behavior continues on the playground. We are considering moving to another school that is smaller and more involved in providing solutions to these sort of issues.

Everyone in school is very helpful not only the teachers. It is a very safe environment. They have helped my kids in every way they can.

PTSA meetings have low attendance. They are lucky to have 20 people in attendance. Principal in her few years has failed to create meaningful programs. Creekside has more programs and opened after Grand Ridge.

As a Grand Ridge parent, I am very pleased with the staff, programs, PTSA and overall academics at the school. However, the school is severely overcrowded and the situation is only getting worse. I wish I would have known this was going to happen before we moved into the neighborhood.

As a parent of two children at Grand Ridge, I can say we are truly fortunate to have such an excellent school in our community. My wife and I both help out in the classroom and at events and have been impressed with the staff and leadership at the school. Bright, caring and capable teachers combined with incredibly engaged parents make for a special learning experience. The Grand Ridge PTSA has had an astounding 100% family participation rate for the last several years.
