I feel this way because the teachers are supportive, I feel safe, and I feel as though I could accomplish a lot at this school.

I noticed in the reviews that the support from counselors is lacking. It's unfortunate that some things haven't changed. I was a student here who was sexually harassed and bullied every day in this school, and despite countless complaints and pleas for help to the administration and counselors by my parents and myself we never received any assistance, or even the sort of supportive counseling one would expect to receive from "counselors". In fact, shockingly, certain older members of the staff began to engage in some harassment themselves. This is an institution that truly should have been slapped with a lawsuit, and if we knew then what we know now things would have turned out much differently.

My daughter (2013) and son (2007) both graduated from PHS and went on to UW well prepared. The latter is a successful aeronautical engineer and benefitted from Prairie's excellent science program and the former is both an excellent student (now pre-med) and athlete (her volleyball team won the state championship her senior year). I do worry about the district's funding problems (not unique), but we were very well served by the school.

A good school is one that has a principal, teachers and staff that cares about and strives for progress and success for ALL students. If you have a child that struggles, you will not get the support you need at Prairie High School.

I absolutely love Prairie High school. I came from a private school my freshmen year and was placed into lower classes even though I was one of the top students at my old school. It was shocking how much work they give. I at least have 3 hours of Homework every night. The teachers are awesome. They will email you and stay after school and work with you until you learn the subject. Our principal is a nice but very strict man. The school is more strict than my private Christian school. Now I'm in AP and loving the warm-welcoming atmosphere and the schools fun events. I love high school!
